My wife and I sent on a Sunday morning 4-hour reduced capacity tour. The boat was not crowded as a result. We had a calm day out on the water, and saw TONS of whales (no pun intended). Captain Kate is either a Whale Whisperer, a whale magnet, or both, as the whales seem to come to her, and she knows where to go to see them, mostly getting there first before a lot of other boats from other companies arrive. The whole crew are marine biologists, very knowledgeable and friendly. During our day we watched a group of 10 or more humpbacks lunch feeding for over an hour, then followed two different pair of mother/calf humpbacks with more lunging, fluke slapping, and even saw the baby whale breach! Other assorted sea life included coastal bottlenose dolphins and a juvenile white shark.See more..
The staff was great, personable, informative, friendly and efficient. Everyone seemed to enjoy their job and were all totally engaged. There was a storm coming in so the water was "rough" but our captain maneuvered through the water easily. Personally I thoroughly enjoyed our ocean rollercoaster ride! Unfortunately the staff had to take care of quite a few seasick people but did so professionally. The additional $20/person charge for going up top is well worth the cost. From the top deck you can sit comfortably on a bench or navigate easily to either side when whales or dolphins choose to make an appearance. And appear they did! I also feel it's important to note that the boat was maintained beautifully! This is an adventure I hope to do again and the Sea Goddess will again be our first choice!See more..
We took my 82 year old mom and another couple with us. We saw humpback whales lunge feeding and many Risso dolphins including Casper, a rare albino dolphin. The guide, Chase (like the bank) was awesome at telling us where to point our cameras to catch the humpback whale breaching the surface of the water. Chase had impressive knowledge about marine life & his enthusiasm was contagious. Thanks to his direction, I got some awesome Follow the directions on the website - light breakfast, Dramamine the night before & morning of as well as renting the bracelets to prevent seasickness. All 5 of us felt great. It is cold so dress appropriately- wear a hat that covers your ears, bring gloves & a good jacket. We saw a few of the huge boats like Goddess of the Sea & was so thankful we chose a smaller, more intimate experience. My mom cannot swim but she never felt unsafe. It will not be the last time we go whale watching with sanctuary cruises!See more..
Captain Scottie took great care of us while we celebrated with a group of 10 during a 4-hour tour. It was overcast and they reached out to us 1-2 days before to find out if we’d prefer to move to another day/time that might be more sunny. We decided to proceed with the overcast day and the boat was prepped with enclosures to keep us warm. It turned out to be a mostly beautiful day and Scottie took us around Lake Tahoe while sharing his knowledge of the area. He was a great host and took pictures of the group at various points, all while ensuring that we were having a good time. He was very accommodating to our wants and probably had a good laugh while some of the group enjoyed a COLD dip in the lake. Fantastic from start to finish. The naturalist guide really knew their stuff and kept up a great commentary at the right times to let us know about bits and pieces and to answer questions. We saw a lot of Otters! I think the tally was 93! Plus Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, Grey and White Pelicans, Blue Herons and Egrets. It was a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours watching the wildlife at close (ish) distances. Especially if your into photography, the boat is very stable, with plenty of opportunity to take photo's. With reduced seating capacity due to covid times, social distancing was very well maintained throughout the boarding and seating arrangements and we were all masked all of the time, and it was absolutely fine! If I'd had another day in the Monterey area I would have done the trip again .See more..

Been on this boat several times. Recent was in 1:30 afternoon in late July and partly cloudy so not as hot as it would have been. The captain told us a lot of information about the lake from inception on way to Emerald Bay which I thought was very good. The captain played music and is open to playing something you like. It was not particularly crowded the day we went so we could sit anywhere. A beautiful lake to see by boat that you don’t see by car. The menu on boat is fairly good but is pricey. I would suggest eat before you go though unless want salad or hamburger. I do not recommend the nachos unless you like velveta type cheese. Good for all ages. This tour is a must do if you're visiting LA! My partner and I just got back from 5 days in Los Angeles, and the tour was a definite highlight for us. We opted for a half day tour and it was honestly fantastic, the day went so quickly and we enjoyed ourselves so much that we wished we had done a full day instead. You really get to see so many great places that you might not make it to otherwise, depending on where you're staying. The best part about the whole experience though was our guide Joss! He made us feel so welcome and comfortable that we were able to just relax and enjoy the day. He also gave us some great suggestions of where to go and places to eat for the remainder of our trip which was great because we love our food. We've done many different types of day-tours before and Joss is hands-down the best guide we've had the pleasure of meeting. Can't say enough great things about this AWESOME company, led by a stellar team of great folks who clearly love what they do. Special shout-out to Tigra, Irish, and Blake, our river guides. Not only did they give us excellent service and cook us some delish grub, but we enjoyed their company as if they were part of our crew! They showed us gorgeous hikes along the way, gave us tips and education on the history of the river, and made our experience one we'll never forget. Our group of 8 was celebrating a 40th birthday... we traded technology and the rat race for getting off the grid, laughing, skimming rocks, and enjoying being together in nature. Highly recommend, and can't wait to do it again!!! PS: Definitely recommend the 2 day trip, as the overnight camping and ability to stop along the river throughout was my favorite part of the trip.See more..

had an extremely wonderful day on the lower middle Fork American with Devon as our guide today. (A Wednesday ) We saw almost no other boats, and several mother mergansers with their broods in tow. The trip was a birthday gift for my seven-year-old granddaughter and she said it was the best birthday gift she has ever received. The shuttle drivers and our guide were just all absolutely great and warm and friendly and knowledgeable and we all Felt very safe the whole day long. Absolutely Must Do!! 5+++++ stars!!! This is a wonderful way to tour the Elkhorn Slough and learn about the local sea life and scenery. Captain Roberta is an amazingly knowledgeable and very friendly person. She has a great sense of humor with a beautiful smile. We saw lots of birds, sea lions, harbor seals, otters. At times the water is like glass and it is so peaceful. The boat "Selkie" has a roof with windows that can be up or down, so weather is not an issue. There were six of us for the 11am cruise on a Sunday. We were truly impressed with the boat, the ease of service and the tour itself. Deck hand Jack made sure everyone's (complimentary) drinks were full and that we were always doing ok, and comfortable on the boat. Both Sean & Jack made sure everyone had a great time - took the time to talk to us all, hear our stories, tell us theirs. Super friendly, super comfortable - amazing excursion for the day! This was my Mother’s Day gift to myself & my mom. I’ve kayaked this slough, about 10 years ago & decided that I didn’t want to have hook my mom up to my kayak to get her back out when the wind picked up. It was so great to go so far down into the slough. Bring your binoculars ask Wyatt the naturalist every question you can think off (my 8 year old did) and have a great time. You will see the wildlife you are hoping to see at a distance that isn’t distressing to them. Will book again, definitely.See more..
Fabulous yachting experience from Marina Del Rey over to Catalina. Everything was taken care of so our group could sit back and relax. Lunch and drinks were served while under sail, and it's hard not to imagine that the multiple pods of dolphins that joined us were part of the experience! All in all the sailing was the highlight of a birthday weekend, and I would recommend this unreservedly. Jim, the Captain, is the best mixture of experience, skill, humor and care for his crew/clients (I say crew because you might get the option to take the helm and pretend you're doing all the work).See more..

I went with three others during the Fourth of July for a vacation for the first time traveling from Tennessee. The experience was so much fun and so new for all of us. It was reasonably priced as well, but the best part was Shane, the one who drove the sailboat. He was very funny and interactive, and so so nice. He definitely made the experience a lot more fun because of his jokes and how kind he was. The sailing in itself was on a beautiful day; we got to see sea lions and pass the rocks out into the open water and see the beaches and the marina. My husband and two teenage boys shared a 14 foot raft with another family of four. It took me a few miles of river before I really got into the experience. I was a little worried because I've had some close calls with rushing water in my past. But this was fun and I would call it 'adventurous' rather than dangerous. Just perfect for us four city folk. It's also beautiful! We stayed two days doing three trips. Two on the first day: a short pre-lunch paddle followed by a longer post-lunch paddle. We stayed the night and enjoyed the hospitality and great food and drink of our river guides. I was bounced from the raft twice. And I elected to jump in the water and swim rapids a few times too. We went on a two-day trip down the Tuolumne with our two college-age children (because how else can I get them to spend time with us♀️?). We had a great time. The guides were all so nice and very knowledgeable. Our guide, Steven handled a challenging situation very well. They do all the cooking and cleaning— which I knew ahead of time but I still kind of felt like a jerk just sitting around while they did all the work. The food is excellent. What an exceptional experience! I did the full day 7 hour tour and it delivered: we saw many humpback whales, over a hundred Risso’s dolphins (including Casper, the albino one!) and so many sea lions. As someone who works in marine conservation, good boat practices are really important to me to not disturb the animals. Mary and Mike follow very high standards. With the full tour, it was great how we could stay at a location for awhile - the whales became comfortable w us and at times came right up to the boat without us approaching them! Mary and Mike were able to identify many of the individual whales and tell us their names and unique behaviors. The boat is small but roomy and there is a bathroom, fresh water, and sunscreen onboard. 10/10 best Monterey whale watching experience I’ve had.See more..

Early in the morning we went on this beautiful whale watching tour. The sea is more calm in the morning so the chance is smalller to get seasick. We saw a few giant whales not to far from the boat, jumping out the water which was fantastic! Even a few dolphins followed us on the end of the tour. Excellent, excellent tour. We were met by owner Karen, a gracious and interesting lady. The owner provided snacks (muffins, quiche, candy, nuts, fresh fruit, water, sparkling wine) adorned with beautiful setting and flowers. The yacht was beautiful and beyond expectations. We felt so special! Erica and Captain Mike were gracious, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We were on a smaller boat, so we were able to get closer to the whale….and the sighting was spectacular. The whale dove and came above the water surface every 30-60mseconds.. So very special! We were the only boat for almost an hour, then a large boat joined us and the whale left. I highly recommend this tour. Don’t do the large boats. The attention you get from the crew and the ability and skill of the crew to navigate close to the whales was worth the extra cost.See more..

I found Slater on Instagram through his beautiful photography and decided to fly myself and my daughter across the country to spend a morning with the whales. Slater's boat is small and it allows for a much closer experience with the whales. You can also call the shots on what you want to see rather than being held hostage by a larger outfit with customers that maybe want to go 4 miles out to find grey whales instead. Slater told us what he thought was going on and we settled on a few patches of lung feeding humpbacks. We spent a few hours just going back and forth between the pods to watch them feed. It was incredible to simply watch the pattens of nature unfold. Slater is knowledgable and a very trustworthy captain. We loved out experience with Slater and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to hang out with the whales.See more..

Cap Dennis was absolutely spot on with the entire day. I do not think you could find a better way to spend the day. His wit alone was worth the ride. My entire family (6 total aged 7-58) got a great sail around the bay with enjoyable conversation. Whether it was Cap Dennis teaching my 7 yr old Granddaughter to sail, or sharing a salty tale of the water, the day could not have been written better. The sites along the San Francisco bay, the little alcoves Cap Dennis likes, just a great day My wife also wanted to drop a few flowers for her dad (we used to sail with him all the time and spread his ashes there back in 99). Cap Dennis brought flowers for my wife and was able to share some common thought with us. This review is far past due! My wife and I (my girlfriend at the time of sailing) were on Caprice with Dan and Carole in May of 2012 (this date wasn't available to select when I submitted this review). I surprised her with a trip on the wonderful catamaran Caprice while we were in San Francisco for a long weekend. Little did she know, I was about to propose to her. I went over the details over the phone with Capt. Dan and his first mate, Carole before we took off. We sailed around the bay looking at all the amazing sights and towards the end of our cruise, as planned, Capt. Dan ferried us in perfect style directly under the Golden Gate Bridge as the sun was setting behind the beautiful mountains. Carole quickly whisked Dan inside for a moment so I could pop the big question. It was an absolutely perfect, flawless evening on the Bay! We'll never forget that sail and can't wait to go back and hop aboard again. Dan and Carole are the most gracious hosts and you can really tell they care about your experience on their beautiful boat. They were in no hurry as we docked that evening close to where we were staying in San Fran, so they invited us to stay on board for freshly brewed coffee with a splash of Bailey's...yum! A perfect way to end our cruise. We talked about life and they could not have been more interested and truly caring about our new adventures as (then) a newly engaged couple. I would highly recommend Dan and Carole and sailing Caprice if you are currently researching charters on the Bay. There's no better way to do it than on a Catamaran and Caprice is one of the only Catamaran's that offer charters on the Bay.See more..
Fascinating experience!! So much to learn about the Yurok history, culture, their river and so much more. I had the luxury of being the only passenger in the canoe with three Yurok guides who were extremely nice and helpful. I got every question answered and then some.... I now have a completely new understanding of what the Klamath means to the Yurok people. Very safe and calming 2 hours on the Klamath. I highly recommend this to anyone!!!See more..
My wife and I took an iconic Christmas Markets River Cruise with AmaWaterways on the ship Amalea from Dec 11 to Dec 18 starting from Nuremberg and ending in Budapest. We must say that it is a wonderful experience, the entire staff was exceptionally professional, caring and warm. The service was outstanding. Especially, the hotel Manager Jerry and the cruise Director Miriam went beyond our expectations to provide the best level of service and hospitality. Not to mention the Executive Chef and the entire kitchen staff made a special effort to provide us with some delicious Asian dishes that we crater for. All in all, we are completely satisfied and we will definitely come back to another Amawaterways River cruise tour.See more..
