  1. 5.0 Fonts Point (84 reviews)
    - Blown away!
Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails • Off-Road & ATV Trails

As a photographer I always seek out the best sunset spots and this one did not disappoint. In fact, I would rate it in the top 5 ever. Get there early as the shadows across the Borrego Badlands are stunning and the golden hue plays out over an extended period. There are mountains an all sides of the overlook and if you get some clouds in the sky just sit back and be amazed! The sandy dirt road back to the overlook is 4 miles and quite washboarded but a 2WD vehicle will make it if you take it slow. The evening we were there we stayed for two hours and there were many people that came out. See more..

A little chilly in January, but no rain and it's perfect weather for off roading. You can camp anywhere in the OHV for free. The kids had a lot of fun riding their quads and my husband I had a blast in the side by side. We went on a nice long ride ~15 miles round trip to the Slash X Cafe and ate lunch. We camped in the Stoddard Valley OHV area where there is an outlet center and restaurants (mostly fast food) nearby so it's not like you are way out in the middle of nowhere, but you can ride out and get away from civilization so it's kind of the best of both worlds. We found this place accidentally, just driving by. At that time we had a Hummer, so we decided to give it a try. It was fun. Trails are marked green, blue and black. We did green and blue and I said that black is more than welcome but without me. On our way we met Honda accord and I think one Toyota Corolla, so somehow they did it to, not sure if their cars ended trail without loosing any parts. Area is beautiful and well maintained. I would not recommend it in rainy days, unless you have a proper vehicle. See more..
  9. 5.0 Rock Front OHV Area (1 review)
    - A Solid Option for Off-roaders Looking for a Challenge
    Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Hiking Trails • Motorcycle Trails • Off-Road & ATV Trails
    Rock Front OHV Area image
The trails here are suitable for just about every dirt toy. And for those with capable 4x4’s, there are a few remote/primitive camps tucked back along the trails. Between the broken up ‘roads’ and lack of formal trail maintenance, I wouldn’t recommend this place for beginners (dirt bikers, at least). That said, there several well-marked trails with varying difficulty levels all presenting at least a moderate challenge. The main requirements here are: If your vehicle isn’t plated, make sure you have an ORV sticker (either CA or your home state); and spark arrestors…rangers periodically check. I regularly use and highly recommend the “Avenza Maps” app as it provides an awesome detail of all of the current/open trails and campground…download before you go as the whole area is a cellular dead spot. Keep the rubber side down and happy trails See more..
