It is the third-tallest bell-and-clock-tower in the world. It has clocks on its four faces on the campus of the University of California in Berkeley. It is more commonly known as The Campanile for it’s resemblance to the Campanile di San Marco in Venice. It is a recognizable symbol of the university. It’s current 61-bell carillon, built around a nucleus of 12 bells can be heard for many miles. It was given by Jane Sather in memory of her husband, banker Peder Sather. Certainly worth a photo stop, while visiting UC Berkeley. See more..

This is a very interesting place. Upstairs they have a wonderful exhibit on the Native peoples that lived here first. Nice gift shop, & there is a tower you can climb, that has incredible views . On the way in, you can see a rock, that was used to pound the acorns, & the holes in the rocks, came from the repeated pounding. See more..
  5. 3.5 Benicia Clocktower (18 reviews)
    - Huge barn

    Benicia Clocktower image
This is an annual event venue for a group I belong to. It's huge drafty and difficult to "warm up". But it has good kitchen facilities and adequate parking. The bathrooms are small and not adequate! The event I attend is a buffet dinner with a program after. It's ok for that, but I can't imagine a wedding there being very pretty. It would however, hold ALOT of people. It has a huge bar area that can be used in many different ways. See more..

What a great place for lakes. Wow! There were people fishing. We enjoyed the lakes. There are many of them and I will never forget them. We walked to the top and sat on a chair to enjoy! I loved that place and you also. A must see! The lakes are so beautiful! See more..
  8. 4.5 Boucher Hill Fire Lookout Tower (3 reviews)
    - Most Excellent Adventure!

Boucher Hill Fire Lookout Tower image
The panoramic views from the tower located atop Boucher Hill Summit are breathtakingly beautiful - especially on a clear day - and the knowledge the forest fire lookout volunteers have to share is so interesting. Visiting this important lookout tower is a must. It is historic, fully functioning and located in the Palomar Mountain State Park so it is easy to visit both the fire lookout tower and the Palomar Observatory in the same day as they are close in proximity. There is a very nice observation deck at the towner, which is wheelchair accessible. From there, over 4,500 feet below you can see the beautiful Pauma Valley, and off in the distance Santiago Peak, Cuyamca Peak and, (on a good day) the Pacific Ocean. It's not open all the time so check their website prior to traveling. See more..

My 17 month old son hiked almost all the way to the top! His first peak :) I've visited lots of fire lookouts and this was one of the nicest ones. Great hosts at the tower - George and Charlotte - were very gracious with hospitality and answered our questions. Thank you!! See more..
