4.5Vernal Fall(1.401 reviews) - Starts moderate then gets strenuous Waterfalls
Though not as tall as Yosemite Falls, Vernal Fall is popular for the green foliage that surrounds it year-round and the rainbow mist it produces as the water cascades.See more..
A unique 80-foot tidefall in the Julia Pfieffer Burns State Park—the water appears to cascade directly into the ocean during high tide, while low tide reveals the sandy beach below. Try spotting condors overhead during the short nature walk from the parking lot to the viewing point. The area has inland and coastal hiking trails and is an excellent spot for whale watching in December and January. McWay Waterfall is popular with tourists and locales and is often crowded, especially towards sunset—consider visiting during sunrise instead. Either way, it’s an unforgettable pitstop on your Big Sur road trip. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Rainbow Falls(328 reviews) - Rainbow Falls - logistics without a car Spent 2-3 hours Waterfalls
With Covid 19, we highly suggest you get to the trailhead parking lot and start your hike well before 8:00am - (There is no shuttle service for the summer of 2020 due to Covid 19). Otherwise, you’ll be hiking with a lot of people who Do Not social distance and only around 5% of the hikers wore any face coverings while crossing on the trail or at Rainbow Falls (where it was very crowded). FYI - check the hourly temperatures before you hike. It was 35 degrees at 5:00am and 36 degrees at 7:30am. It was also 74 degrees at 12:00pm. The “Rainbow” was only slightly visible at 12:00pm. The hike is Very beautiful and an easy hike down to the falls from Devil’s Postpile. The hike back is a steady uphill climb. There are no restrooms and no potable water along the trail, so plan accordingly. Water is available from the San Joaquin River, but you’ll need to filter/sterilize before drinking. It’s approximately 0.4 miles from the Parking lot to Devil’s Postpile and 2.0 miles more to Rainbow Falls (2.4 miles one way, 4.8 miles round trip). Highly recommend for the beautiful scenery, but beware of those who do not wear face masks and do not social distance. Some other reviews have suggested hiking to Red’s Meadows Resort from Rainbow Falls, which is 0.9 miles each way. Red’s Meadows Resort are cabins, a small store, and a cafe. We don’t think it’s worth the 1.8 additional mile hike. Instead, we suggest going to Minaret Falls (2.6 mile round trip) from the Devil’sPostpile area.See more..
Wow! This was by far our favorite part of visiting Yosemite. We drove up to the Hetch Hetchy road and waited for the ranger to open it right at 8am. Just a few minutes from there was the dam where we started our hike. Two young kids that made it all the way to Wapama falls and even swam in the pools below. Without the cool water, this may have been miserable. There is very little shade along the trail and although along the reservoir the entire time, there is no way to access it because of the steep drop offs. We saw many people struggling when we were nearing the dam at the end of our trip that were wearing flip flops/crocs and had one water bottle between them. Come prepared for high temps in the summer and start as early as you can get in the gate. When you get to the falls cross the first bridge and climb down under the second. This was where you could get into the water to cool off.See more..
4.5Lower Eagle Falls(308 reviews) - Short but uphill hike to a lovely waterfall Waterfalls
The Lower Eagle Falls Trail is a lovely trail in Emerald Bay State Park. It starts at the State Park Visitor Center and quickly climbs via rocky stairs to the spectacular Lower Eagle Falls. When I visited in July, the water flow was not robust, but the scenery was still spectacular. The whole trek back & forth is less than a mile. But, note that getting to the trailhead from the State Park parking lot requires an additional one mile hike (downhill from the parking lot). If you are visiting the State Park do not miss this short waterfall hike.See more..
4.5Tokopah Falls(160 reviews) - One of our best experiences at Sequoia National Park Waterfalls
Beautiful trail. We enjoyed it thoroughly even though the falls themselves (at the end of the trail) were dry. You should not leave Sequoia National Park without experiencing the beauty of this canyon -- the pines, the river, the cliffs. See more..
4.5Darwin Falls(138 reviews) - Perfect way to start your adventure in Death Valley Waterfalls
This is at the entrance to the park when coming from the Ca side. It is the perfect way to get warmed up for the Valley! The road is not marked well and is a dirt road for 2.5 miles. The trail itself is lovely. The canyon has been carved out by nature, and you get to witness up close and personal the water's magic in moving through granite rock. The trail itself has a couple of balancing acts to cross over the river, so be prepared! The waterfall at the end is pretty amazing when you think how dry Death Valley is. Definitely a great way to kick off the trip! See more..
4.5Roaring River Falls(135 reviews) - great place for a quick selfie! Waterfalls
Nice, quick stop. You will get a huge bang for your buck, in that it is a short hike, which usually you are hiking miles to get to a waterfall like this. This is a short jaunt, and is perfect for taking a couple of selfies, and moving on down the road!See more..
4.5Hedge Creek Falls(130 reviews) - EZ & quick- worth it! Waterfalls
February there’s no leaves on the trees, but there’s still charming mossy rocks. The waterfall is pretty and you can walk behind it. Go down to the end of the trail, it’s not far at all, and at least in Winter without the leaves you get a great view of snowy Mount Shasta above the river at trails end.See more..
4.5Mossbrae Falls(91 reviews) - The walk to the falls is very close to active rail lines. Must be aware of the possibilities of trains passing. Waterfalls
It was a beautiful walk next to the railroad tracks. Be aware of the possibilities for rail trains to pass within mere inches of you. Don't recommend taking a dog. The trail is comprised of cut granite chunks, much to dangerous not to mention uncomfortable for your pets. If you go in the summer, go early morning, afternoons would make the walk much less enjoyable. When you make it to the falls, be ready for a most amazing sight! Peaceful area, the sound, the ferns, breath deep and enjoy the tranquility! The falls are AMAZING!See more..
4.5Grizzly Falls(84 reviews) - Go Early Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
You can literally see the falls from the parking lot. Waterfall viewing doesn't get any easier than this, as I've hiked many more miles in other locations to see waterfalls less than half as beautiful. That said, it's a picnic area and people will linger. We arrived at 9:45am on a Tuesday to a completely empty parking lot. We had the waterfall to ourselves, wandered around taking photos up on the rocks, and left. When we drove past the area later in the afternoon, the parking lot was completely packed and there were people EVERYWHERE.See more..
4.5Paradise Falls(70 reviews) - Well worth the walk Waterfalls
You have to possess a certain degree of fitness to get to the falls. The trails are a little untamed in places and can be challenging if you struggle with distance. The route(s) to the falls is pretty well signposted. I went in midweek in December 2017 and I was the only one there. In the summer it gets busy, especially on a weekend and can be really noisy but if you choose your time right it is a wonderful place to sit quietly.See more..
4.5Wapama Falls(70 reviews) - Main attraction in Hetch Hechy area Waterfalls
You can see Wapama falls even from main Hetch Hetchy parking. But it is worth to take about 2.8 miles hike to waterfall ( round trip less than 6 miles). You'll enjoy excited views at Hetch Hetchy reservoir and surrounded mountains. Hike is easy and can be completed even by small kids. We were there on Sunday and there was not many people . So you'll enjoy unique waterfall view without big crowd.See more..
It was a 30 minute drive from our hotel. Some scary sections of road driving up with regard to drop offs. The trail is located within a campground. There is a $10 day use fee and no place to park within the campground unless you are camping. So we parked outside the campground along the road. Part of the road going into the campground was under water. Difficult to see how deep due to the muddiness. At the entrance to the campground is a pole that says "trailhead". Head straight forward from that pole. The sign at the actual trailhead is all rusted and not legible. There is a small water crossing but you can cross by stepping on rocks. One small log to walk over. The hike up is short and is uphill the entire way. Some slippery shale rock in certain areas. There was not much water in the waterfall (only about 4 inches across) when we arrived. It was still a beautiful hike and the air smelled so clean.See more..
4.5Chilnualna Falls(58 reviews) - Upper Fall Trail carpeted with Bear Clover Waterfalls
The trail to Upper Chilnualna Fall is fairly consistent in its gradient, about 600’ per mile. But this is a great trail if you like bear clover, also called Mountain Misery. It was in bloom for our early June hike and was lovely to see. There are numerous views of Wawona from the trail as well as views of the cascades of the waterfall. Note that there are some open unshaded sections of the trail, so we got pretty hot. A highlight for me was seeing a baby rattlesnake along the trail. I am afraid it is too close to people, but I did not try to pick it up and move it to a more unpopulated location. While at the top, we picnicked with a view, checked out campsites, took lots of photos, and admired all the cascades. We did not choose to swim in any of the potholes or pools of water. Note that the Lower Chilnualna Fall Trail is short & somewhat steep but ‘worth’ the walk. The Upper Fall Trail is definitely a hike rather than a walk.See more..

4.5Glen Alpine Falls(38 reviews) - Beautiful! Very much worth the drive! Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
This is a waterfall that foams over many rocks while coming down the hillside. The views are spectacular, with the mountains as a beautiful backdrop to these falls. At first I didn't know if we should proceed, as the road was a single lane and looked quite rustic (but it is paved). We had no mishaps - every oncoming driver was quite courteous and we managed just fine. The reward of the sight of the falls at the end of the road was definitely worth the drive.See more..

The mill creek falls trail was beyond beautiful the day we hiked it in mid-July. Just splendid! Arrive early if crowds are not your thing. 4.0Tenaja Falls(24 reviews) - Beautiful hike to Tenaja Falls in the spring Waterfalls
The hike is secluded and beautiful. It isn't too long, only about a half a mile or so. Consider going within a few days of rain. There were many flowers in bloom at the time. This is a great hike for family and kids. Remain cautious on the rocks surrounding the falls. They have been polished by water and movement for millions of years and are extremely slick. Well worth the experience. Bring lots of water in the summertime! Happy hiking.See more..
It's amazing how a small drive could take you to a different world. Ortega highway is beautiful except it could be a little slow if following a slow driver. To reach the falls you descend down less than half a mile, or you could start at the bottom and go up by rocks. There are 2 smaller falls from down. It's very quite, this place has graffiti and thrash on side otherwise the water is clear. The falls is not mark, it's on the left side. if you get to the visitors center, you pass it about a mile.See more..
4.5Feather Falls Scenic Trail(21 reviews) - This is a must do if you like hiking!!!! Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
This is an amazing day trip. It is nice all times of the year, but especially nice in the Spring when the weather is sunny and the temperatures a little cooler. There are two trails, though one is sometimes not as accessible do to overgrowth. The one that veers to the right after leaving the parking lot is longer, but not as steep. It is also better if it is a wet year. Beware of the poison oak on either trail. The views are spectacular. There is a great walk out area good for taking a rest and getting the full view of the falls. It should be amazing this Spring after all the rain we have had. Don't be fooled by the seeming calm of the river above the falls. Many very serious accidents have happened here. Don't chance it. Also, don't leave things visible in your car as there have been some break-ins in the parking lot, in the past.See more..
Great hike. Can definitely be tiresome at some points so make sure to have plenty of water & snacks. It really has the potential to be a prime beautiful spot but so much trash is left behind and it’s such a shame. That’s why the 3 stars instead of 5 because it’s the bad. If you want to visit these places wouldn’t you want to keep it beautiful? Also the graffiti. A good amount of water right now! A little too many people cause nobody has anything else to do during quarantine. I’ve never seen so many cars or people there at the same timeSee more..

5.0Brandy Creek Falls(9 reviews) - A Long but Rewarding Hike Spent More than 3 hours Waterfalls
Brandy Creek Falls has two options, a long, five-mile walk through a forest or you can drive those five-miles and walk the last 1.5 miles to the falls. I decided to take a walk in the woods! The forest hike is pretty flat and you only cross a stream 3 times, so it is very manageable. However, the final 1.5 miles to the falls is straight up hill. By the time you reach falls you have a solid seven-miles walk back. Time is very important because you don't want to lose daylight while you are in the forest until you very skilled at hiking and have a light source. Be sure and bring food and water because it took me six-hours to complete this hike. The Park Service rates this as a "moderate" hike but that was for only the last 1.5 miles. I would consider this a difficult hike when you add ten more miles to the total. Don't forget your parking pass: you can buy an annual pass for $40 from the Park Service customer center just as you are nearing Whiskeytown.See more..

4.0Bonita Falls Trail(6 reviews) - Bonito Falls, Lytle Creek is fun and rejuvenating for the heart and soul, bring the family Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
This is such a relaxing trail for the whole family. it is pretty flat compared to other trails. The trail is made up of river granite rocks and is sturdy. There are free parking on the side of the road. You can see crystal clear Spring water bubbling down your path. Quite litter free for such a popular hike. There is a beautiful canyon that will supply some breeze. The waterfall is magnificent and it collects in a little pool before it makes its way down the creek. I was told this is year round as its source is from a SPRING and not melted snow. Short trail approximately 1.5 miles round trip. Highly recommended for all city dwellers who want a little taste of nature that is not over whelming. We were lead by an Eagle Scout who is currently a Cub Scout Den Leader.See more..

4.0Marble Falls(5 reviews) - Better than expected Waterfalls
We were very disappointed that Mineral King Road was closed and we couldn’t do the great hikes to the lakes. We were pleasantly surprised by this hike which started out average but had fun water over rock crossings in the last 1/2 mile and ended in great cascades over beautiful white marble rocks. Turned out to be a great hike, highlighted by beautiful wildflowers. No snakes (thank God) or ticks, possibly because it poured rain all day yesterday. Not 5 stars, only because comparing it to other Yosemite/Seqouia/Kings Canyon hikes. See more..

This is so far one of my favorite waterfall hike. The trail is shaded and you will be surrounded with plants, streams and rocks all through out the hike. It's only less than 2 miles roundtrip. Keep in mind to wear water repellant hiking footwear. Make sure the sole of your shoes have a good grip as you step over wet rocks while crossing streams. An extra pair of footwear will come in handy after the hike. I just basicallly followed the stream into the canyon. The waterfall is clear and kids could wade and play underneath. There are two options for parking. One is on the street which is free but very limited as in for less than 10 vehicles. The hike from this spot is longer. The second parking is closer to the campgrounds and restroom. The campgrounds is where you will find the marker of the trail towards the waterfall. For this second option an CA Adventure Pass is required to park and can be purchased on line or George's Market in town. Make sure to call the market for the pass availability. They can easily run out during peak season. Try to come early during the weekends cause it tends to get crowded. This is an easy and fun hike even for small kids.See more..

Phantom Falls is a seasonal waterfall on the North Table Mountain Ecological Preserve. It only flows after the rains, so you'll need to be prepared to visit when it's cold, get a little muddy, and pass a few cows along the way (just give them a wide berth). It's particularly beautiful in March and April when the wildflowers are in bloom. If you go right after particularly heavy rains, you'll find other smaller waterfalls flowing on your way to Phantom Falls. This moderate hike is a Must that everyone should do at least once while in Butte County.See more..
