4.5La Jolla Cove(13.7k reviews) - The Most Exciting Beach Spent More than 3 hours Beaches • Parks
At this beach surronded by sandstone cliffs on the San Diego coast, the water is calm enough for travelers to enjoy diving and snorkeling. Walk along the rocky shore to spot large colonies of sea lions lounging in their natural habitat and looking after their pups, and have a picnic while soaking up the views of the ocean from the cliffs at sunset. If you visit at low tide, you’ll get to swim in the crystal clear tidal pools as well. You can also visit Sunny Jim's Sea Cave which is accessible via a tunnel. Visit early in the morning to find a parking space more easily. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.0Venice Beach(10.9k reviews) - Full of Great Vibes - An LA Must See Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
This lively beach close to Los Angeles draws crowds to its busy boardwalk, where street performers and colorful characters make an appearance. Surfers gather around the Venice Breakwater while bodybuilders flock to the open-air gym on Muscle Beach. Take your time to explore the countless cafes and souvenir shops that line the waterfront or bike along the 4-mile boardwalk that runs from the southern end of Venice Beach to the neighboring Santa Monica Beach. There are lifeguards on duty, so families with children can have a safe and enjoyable time in the water. – TripadvisorSee more..
The Santa Monica State Beach is a pretty long stretch of beach, and there are paid parking lots down it - with bathrooms and restaurants and playgrounds as well. When visiting LA with my husband and brother this past weekend, I knew I couldn't leave California without walking along the beach and taking in some ocean views. So we picked a parking lot ($7 for the day on a Tuesday; it was pretty empty) and walked along the beach for a bit. It was a grayish day, but it was still lovely to walk along the beach and watch and smell the ocean before heading back to wintery, rainy, gray Nashville. If your visit includes weekdays, I suggest visiting on the beach on a weekday - it was pretty empty! Very relaxing place to visit!See more..

4.5Manhattan Beach(1.463 reviews) - This is a great beach area in CA ! Beaches
Really like Manhattan Beach. It’s got great big clean beaches, lots of bar and restaurant options, and best of all…it has not been overrun by homeless encampment tents like some other beach areas (eg Venice Beach - which is now sadly a place to avoid). Manhattan beach is clean, upscale and awesome! We ate at Esperanza (fancy), Pancho’s (fun) , El Tarasco (take out), Pitfire pizza (good), Wild Cafe (nice) and also did Bolero Bowling (nearby fun). The Pier has an Aquarium at the end (small) but it is free!! Go! Have fun. Stay at the Sea View Inn - it’s nice and has a great location! VictorBSee more..

Known for its shoreline and seafood restaurants, Newport Beach is more than just sand and surf. This coastal city in South Orange County, California, is a vibrant playground of attractions and activities. Newport Beach also marks the first stop of many Hollywood tours, and you may recognize its surroundings from hit shows like 'The O.C.' and 'Arrested Development'. Hop on a whale-watching cruise to spot blue whales and bottlenose dolphins, catch some waves at the popular surfing spot The Wedge, or stroll down a picturesque boardwalk to Balboa Island, where you’ll find a variety of charming local businesses. – TripadvisorSee more..

4.5Pacific Beach(1.301 reviews) - The Prince of Pacific Beach Beaches
Take in the mesmerizing coastal views as you stroll down Crystal Pier. Watch the surfers in action, and if you’re lucky, you might be able to spot frolicking dolphins and whales during the migration season. Then, rent a bicycle and cruise down Ocean Front Walk and the Mission Bay Bike Path—both offer plenty of spots to pause for a bite to eat or a dip in the water. Pacific Beach is renowned as San Diego’s party capital, and the boardwalk is lined with bars, cafes, and restaurants. Unfortunately, the drive there can get rather congested, so consider coming in on Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner. – TripadvisorSee more..
First the bad news. Arrived at about 3:00 pm. Parking for one hour was $5 or $10 until sunset. I opted for the $10 pass. There are four lots strung out over the 3.5 mile length of the park. A path runs its course along the top but there are a few places where one can go down to go down to the beach. I didn’t find beach access from lot 2 but there is two access parts from the path that can be accessed from parking lot 1. Depending on the tide, beach walking may require shedding the shoes. There are several overlook point where one can take beautiful pictures. I wasn’t able to do the entire length of the walking path due to time constraints. See more..

4.5Huntington Dog Beach(744 reviews) - One of the Best Dog Beaches You Will Find where Happy Dogs Run Free Friday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM Beaches
I will bring my dogs here every time I visit. They love visiting and it rivals the Carmel dog beach which is fantastic. We brought our younger dog here for the first time in late February and she was in heaven. It's a long stretch of beach and when I was there, all of the dogs were having fun - no aggression. Parking was easy, but it was a weekend, so it was crowded. We did manage to snag a parking spot right away because someone was leaving. The problem with this place is that it's tough to convince your pups to leave! Thank you Huntington Beach - My dogs were both smiling - truly.See more..

I used to think that Manhattan Beach was the be all, end all of the South Bay. But you know what? I’m thinking South Redondo Beach is the real hidden gem!! I love it down here! Soooo much more mellow. Wider streets. Less traffic and WAY FEWER tourists! Also the sweeping views, without a water treatment plant right next to you is really breathtaking to look at. I love the breezy, hot summer days and the foggy marine layer mornings. My favorite time of day is around happy hour when the DOLPHINS come out to play!! They are awesome and I will never tire of watching them! I love being just a few steps away from the ocean and the Riviera village. So walkable, I love it! South Redondo is truly so lovely! Not quite a thousand steps but certainly a steep and winding flight of stairs that descend down to this stunning beach. A popular spot for surfing, the waves here grow large and offer up a bit of a challenge. You can also take a kayak tour in the area to explore sea caves and spot sea lions out in the ocean. Due to the steep descent, this beach is not easily accessible for those with mobility issues and parking is a distance away and fills up early. Check tide schedules in advance as high tides can cover a great deal of the beach. – TripadvisorSee more..

In the past, we've laid to rest two furry family members and visiting here reminds us of the enduring affection we all have for these dear departed friends (it was not lost on us). 4.5Swami's Beach(239 reviews) - Amazing sunset and soft sand Beaches
This is a must-see in Encinitas. Don't miss it. It takes about 160 some odd steps to get down to the ocean, but you will never regret it. The air, the soft sand, the incredible view from above and at sea level, as well as the sunset, make this both a memorable and almost spiritual experience. People walked peacefully along the water, children ran from the waves and a few people meditated peacefully, facing out to sea and making me want to join them in their reverie.See more..
