4.5Old Mission Santa Ines(537 reviews) - God Bless this beautiful California Mission. Missions
This mission is very old and has gone through remodeling projects. I attended the 8 AM Mass. The music prigram was led by a very talented soloist and she was a very adept guitar player. All the capuchin priests were very warm and welcoming as well as the parisioners. Fathe had us raide our hand if we were visiting. The inside of this mission is stunning. There are great tours to learn more about the interesting history.See more..
We have been to many of the California missions and this is one of the bigger and nicer ones. The grounds are very large and we spent about three hours walking around seeing the different buildings and grounds. Many details of daily life in each of the buildings and rooms. There are great reading placards at every turn which gives you the great history of both this particular mission and the California missions. We stopped by here almost by accident because we were driving by and we’re glad that we did. It’s a great place to walk around and see history of California and it’s missions. There is a $6 park fee, bathrooms in multiple locations, a gift store and a visitor center. You could easily spend 1/2 day or more exploring the area if interested in this type of history.See more..
4.5Mission San Juan Bautista(294 reviews) - Worth the drive Friday: 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM State Parks • Missions
This is my favorite mission to come to. Their gift shop has the most to offer in comparison to other missions. Beautiful grounds, spacious and always well kept. The church is nice and is also where a scene from Vertigo was filmed. Outside in the front there's a big square with pretty views of the town, and a historic park across from the mission which you can admire from the outside or pay a small fee to see some more history inside the small park. I also found a little garden area across the street and there's a little old town with cute shops and places to eat. Definitley a nice day trip with lots to see!See more..

4.5Old Mission San Jose(93 reviews) - Underrated historic place in Silicon Valley Friday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Missions
California Historical Landmark No. 334. Mission San Jose was founded on June 11, 1797 by Father Fermin Francisco de Lasuen. This was the 14th of twenty-one Spanish missions established in Alta California. A tour through Old Mission San Jose’s historic facilities includes the Mission Museum, the Church, the historic Cemetery, and the Garden. In the Museum, an 18-minute video depicts Spanish exploration and the 1797 founding of the mission as well as day-to-day living within the mission. See Ohlone Indian artifacts, religious objects from the Franciscan period, and items from the Mission and Rancho eras. The Church is a reconstruction of the 1830s mission adobe church, built with the materials and using construction methods of that time. It also contains the rare Rosales Opus 14 Spanish Organ. The cemetery holds the graves of many prominent Spanish and American settlers, and the rose garden includes a fountain and plantings representing the original mission period.See more..
