Good service, friendly staff and the shop is located very close to a beginner-friendly beach and some good lunch places. Alternatively you can rent some gear here and head down to Rincon for a more challenging venue. They've also got a good selection of tee shirts and beach gear. There's lots of on street parking close to the shop and the beach so this makes for an easy afternoon of body surfing or boogie boarding. I recently wanted to try out Standup Paddling and I heard that Capitola was one of the easiest places to learn. I was worried that our group of seven would be too large but I called ahead of time and they were able to reserve the board for us. When we got there, we got our paperwork filled out and they let us put all of our stuff in their lockers (for free!) They went over the boards with us and brought them out to the beach for us, which is great because I don't think I could have carried my board down to the beach. Because we were all beginners, they taught us how to stand on the board and work the paddle as well as helping us all into the water! None of us had ever surfed when my kids decided they wanted to spend our family vacation at surf camp. After reading about a number of options, we chose Endless Summer, and are so glad we did. My kids attended the overnight camp, and I took a lesson. They had all of us standing up surfing the first day, and let everyone advance at their own pace. They were always there with helpful tips and suggestions. The food was good and plentiful, especially the dinners. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and ensured a safe and enjoyable surfing and camping experience. My kids made lots of new friends from all around the world. The Lagoon next to Lyon J Park is n excellent place to enjoy your surfing passion. Get your equipment and surf,sail,canoe,kayak,paddle boat in the lagoon. The winds on most days are fantastic and extremely challenging for the passionate surfers. There is also a rental available on site but check on timings and rates -though i found it open on all evenings. The entire day is good and evenings from 1700 h to 2200 h are fantastic.I am sure you will love it. The Park hosts a number of events on most weekends but water sports continue without stoppage -in fact it can be great family outing for those not involved in water sports also.The scenic beauty is astonishing. This was a great morning event. My GF had been wanting to SUP for a while. I decided that I'd treat her to a lesson. Our instructor, Chris, was great! He is an old pro at this and showed us everything that could happen if we did it wrong. Neither of us fell in the water. We made it out to the end of the marina and peeked onto open water. I was in Surf Ranch to watch the stage of WSL. The place is amazing with a great structure to people that like surf, beach, lake, nature and a sustainable life.
