    - All is well in the world and nature is in control
Friday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Natural History Museums • Science Museums • Children's Museums
Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center image
Peace and solitude, such valuable commodities, every-and-any-where it con be found, these are the treasures upon which no monetary value can be set. This is one of those little slices of paradise. It is small now but it has bigger aspirations. We wish them well and much success. Under the bridge, sit a spell and watch the ocean and lagoon interact. There are some incredible views under the bridge, looking out to where the lagoon battles with the current. Along this short path (for now, until expansion eventually happens), we watched as a heron seemed to be fishing with a pole (never leave those things untended), and life just quietly played out at a much less hectic pace. Dial it down, sit and breath deeply and enjoy the moment. Once more, we did not visit the Discovery Center but spent our time in the Lagoon environs. Sit on Titus (the dog's) bench and ponder how many happy walks that canine spent waiting to hear those magic words. See more..

    Rail Giants Train Museum image
I am so glad we finally got a chance to visit this museum. My son is like every 3 year old and into trains. We were lucky to get with a tour group and go inside some of the trains, cars, and pull the whistles and ring the bells. My son had a blast and the staff there I am sure they are all volunteers, they are so kind and friendly. Maybe when my son is a bit older we can volunteer together. I recommend checking the website prior to visiting as we found out the hard way a week prior that they are not always open. Make sure to bring some change for the donation cups through out the park, I told my son next time we will bring one of his piggy banks so we can give money to the trains so that they will always be there for him. 23. 5.0 Children's Storybook Garden and Museum (2 reviews)
    - Growing Better By the Month!
    Spent 1-2 hours Children's Museums
My previous review already said this place was great for taking kids 18 months to 5 or 6 (maybe even a bit older). They have expanded greatly in the intervening 14-16 months! Unbelievable! Must be great community support! A delightful, themed garden of stories and toddler to grade-school-sized buildings and activities. When we were there, they had exchange students ready for a mini-German lesson. This place is great, and I highly recommend it for families with kids. Parking on the main street is pretty good, but if full, a bank is right next door, so no parking issues. Be prepared for a bit of sand and dirt! Don't miss the real hand-water pump! See more..
  24. 5.0 Jensen Alvarado Historic Ranch and Museum (1 review)
    - Wonderful Slice of the 1850s-1880s
Speciality Museums • Children's Museums • History Museums
I read that this place was open 2-4 or something like that, but we got there about 12:00. The gate to enter was open so we drove in, parked, and took a look around. It really is a huge park with restrooms, lots of old farming implements, chickens, donkeys, and horses, and a huge lovely brick house. It all looked empty of people and visitors, but at the house we heard voices and continued to look around. We didn't want to trespass, and saw a man come out of the house. I asked if we could look in the windows and he said yes. The front door was open and while looking around a docent came up and told us she could give us a tour for $5.00 each. It was WONDERFUL! They have school kids tour most mornings, but we had her to ourselves for about an hour. This truly is a gem that Riverside shoul be proud of. See more..
