It used to be a tiny little store on a dirt lot with beef jerky, nuts and candy, but it has grown from a tiny store, to a large store, with a snack bar. hotel being built and a paved parking lot. I never used to stop at Baker, although I like seeing the Worlds Largest Thermometer. But the heat keeps me away. This is by far a very cool attraction and my favorite stop to Vegas. Don't normally review retail but had a great experience with an employee of the See's Candy at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo today. Older, Caucasion lady whose 2 year anniversary with See's was today. She didn't even flinch when my mum presented her with an almost 2 year old gift certificate. She was extremely patient with my mother and and handed out samples, and really took care of us. I don't normally visit See's but I might as the service was great especially from this employee. Kudos to her and the work ethic of her generation; kids these days can learn a thing or two. There is no indoor seating however, there is limited seating outdoors. At the time of my visit, the weather was nice but I can see that the outdoor seating may be problematic on those 100 plus degree days. I enjoyed my sandwich and my companion enjoyed their made-to-order pizza. I had a strawberry cupcake for dessert. The cupcakes are not made on the premises and are provided by a local Riverside bakery. The service was very friendly and helpful. Our son lives in Manhattan Beach within walking distance (although crossing Sepulveda is scary!), and we visit this Mall, every time we visit him. We've always enjoyed it, and have done some serious shopping there. Once upon a time, there was a wonderful Bullock's, where a Macy's now stands. Now, the stores are much more upscale, as are the customers. The Mall is a perfect size, where you can visit many stores, and not get tired. It is airy and welcoming. Lots of plants and seating areas. Apple is twice the size of the 2014 store, and there is a lovely working fountain in front of the indoor entrance. The new Pottery Barn store is just gorgeous. The one big issue here is parking. The lot seems huge, but it can take lots of circling to find a spot.See more..

The Rock Shop is a very interesting place to visit if you are in the Vacaville area. It is a large warehouse that has thousands of different types of rocks, fossils, shell etc. priced from under a dollar up to over $10k. A friend of mine told me I should take my kids and I was a little dubious. Looking at rocks didn't sound very fun to do for a family outing, but this place is real treat to walk through. We've been back 3 or 4 times for gifts and just to let the kids pick out inexpensive nick-nacks. The building does not have air conditioning or heat so keep in mind that it may be hot or cold depending on the weather outside. If you have children and need to burn an hour, this is a free and fun thing to do as a family. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
