    We’ve done the magical cmas train with our grandkids for 5 yrs with a bump during COV. It’s sort of cheesy but in a good way. This year seemed to lack energy and enthusiasm. There was no storyline where “actors” came thru the cabins with a story for kids to engage. When we got to the turnaround spot, there was no North Pole or anything, the train just reversed direction. Santa looked the part but lacked Christmas spirit. The singer (some laid back hippie) was just going thru the motions. Mrs claus and elves were great in engaging the audience and making an effort in giving something for $55 tixs. Was disappointed this year so will try the Polar Express downtown old sac next time.     I was part of a group that took a 5 day/4 night pack trip into the upper elevation Sierras above June Lake for a fishing adventure. The FPT staff were most professional, friendly, and very much interested in our well-being, while providing excellent service. Safety was paramount to them. Their stock was healthy and well cared for. The fit of saddle and horse to me was the best that I have ever experienced. After a long ride, I was not sore, nor experienced any hip or knee issues. Mind you, the trail up to the camps was rugged and not for the faint of heart. Yet the animals were "sure-footed" and did their jobs splendidly. FPT provided two experienced wranglers and a wonderful camp cook. Accommodations were tents with plenty of room. The meals were excellent and there was plenty of food to satisfy anyone's appetite. We had plenty of time to fish or to enjoy the wonders of the high elevation back country. All in all, it was the experience of a lifetime. See more..

    Saw the rail cars while driving down hwy 1 and had to check out. Family owned and operated, you ride hand built rail cars on a historic section of rail line. The cars are propelled by your arms and legs. Great upper and lower body work out. The route is 6 miles round trip and passes through some pretty areas with scenic views.
