4.5Carmel Mission(1.138 reviews) - Educationally gratifying and spiritual experience Friday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Religious Sites • History Museums
Wonderful experience reflecting on the history and spirituality of the area. One of our very dear friends had passed away just an hour before, and it was comforting to be able to light a candle for her in the sanctuary. We had the extreme good fortune and honor of being approached by and given a tour by the curator himself. A rare treat to be sure. I highly recommend visiting this historic mission while in Carmel.See more..

4.5Salvation Mountain(394 reviews) - A Folksy Inspiration Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites
This was one of the top places I wanted to visit on my vacation to Thousand Oaks. It did not disappoint. The mission is beautiful and peaceful. The interior of the chapel is well-maintained. The altar, Stations of the Cross and statues are beautiful. The courtyard is peaceful. It is a nice place to sit and rest. There are candles to light for special intentions in the courtyard. A small gift shop is located on the street level with the museum a flight of stairs above which can be accessed through the shop or from the upper level. This is a place well worth visiting.See more..

Beautiful artwork in this Cathedral. We tried a couple times to go inside, however, the back was always locked. We tried on our final day and were surprised the back was open. Talked to the priest and he said they try to have it opened most days, if the back was locked to try the north side door. They have to be careful as there are many valuables inside and they worry about vandalism. Very worth the stop.See more..
Inspired by His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, a handful of devotees began conducting weekly assemblies in the late 1970's and early 1980's. In 1984, His Holiness inaugurated the first BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Whittier, California, a small suburb just outside of Los Angeles. With the guidance and blessings of His Holiness, the congregation grew from just a handful of families to a strong group of dedicated devotees who yearned for spiritual growth. In 2000, His Holiness visited the current site of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Chino Hills and invigorated the congregation's desire to build a traditional Hindu Mandir. The congregation completed with Haveli building (more commonly known as the Visitors Center) in 2007. In 2012, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Chino Hills was dedicated and opened with great joy. This Mandir is the fifth traditional Hindu Mandir in North America.See more..
5.0Hsi Lai Temple(78 reviews) - I felt it this time Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
Hsi Lai Temple encompasses 15 acres and a floor area of 102,432 square feet. The temple's Ming (1268-1644 C. E.) and Ching (1644-1911 C.E.) dynasty architecture is faithful to the traditional style of buildings, gardens and statuary of traditional ancient Chinese monasteries. Hsi Lai means "coming to the West" and signifies the dedication of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order to spread the teachings of the Buddha to those in the West. The International Buddhist Progress Society, a nonprofit organization, is the chartered name for the temple. Hsi Lai Temple was built to serve as a spiritual and cultural center for those interested in learning more about Buddhism and the Chinese culture. It is the idea of Venerable Master Hsing Yun to propagate "Humanistic Buddhism" and to create a Pure Land here on earth. Hsi Lai Temple is built to fulfill these goals in the United States. The temple's objectives are to nurture Buddhist missionaries through education, to propagate Buddhism through cultural activities, to benefit society through charitable programs, and to edify the populace through Buddhist practices. We held our funeral service for my father who passed away on 27th Jan 2022. We chose Rose Hills Memorial Park to rest my father and decided to go with SkyRose Chapel for the funeral service because it had everything that my father would have loved - the magnificent skyline and view of downtown LA, sky high vaulted glass ceiling, elegant architecture, space and air. Both our funeral director Jael and AV director Tim were also very experienced and professional. The chapel has enough natural lighting but not in a harsh way, so you still lights inside, which makes everything look even prettier and more elegant. The super high vaulted glass ceiling also makes everything sound extra beautiful and round. The white grand piano was a pleasant surprise and upgraded the whole service experience to the next level. Everything was solemn and beautiful, just like the way my father would have wanted it. Thank you.See more..

4.0Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep(5 reviews) - You feel transported back to Thailand and the food is amazing. Religious Sites
We came here for their Sunday food market and it is honestly one of our new favorite finds. You feel transported back to Thailand and the food is amazing. It's difficult to find boat noodles in OC so we were delighted to get some here..and it was SOOooo good!!! Come early because if the weather is nice it'll get crowded. Bring cash and plenty of it. You'll need to exchange them for tokens to purchase the good. The stir fry stand is always busy and just the wait to order may take you 45mins. That said, the noodles and fried rice is delicious. Just know it may be 1.5 to 2 hours before you get your food for that stall.See more..

...around the big pagoda a few times and left an offering or two nearby the two. I requested some help at both. I feel always really good stumbling into these places. This complex one seems to be in the middle of a state park that took a big real hit with a fire a couple years back. Redwoods!!! But this temple seems to be unscathed - I wish I was leaving... I didn't hear anything here or see anyone. Behind one of the little four you'll find one. Hurry cause it's gonna rain soon and it'll get wet.See more..

We were very warmly greeted and welcomed at this small historic Methodist Church. The worship service was a blended service of traditional and contemporary music and liturgy. The message of the day was very inspiring and focused on Christian values of inclusion, caring and doing the opposite of what our instincts often tell us to do in relation to "the enemy" or those unlike ourselves. There was a nice reception after the worship service. It was an intimate group for worship with a young adult as part of the worship leadership for prayers and working with the children. This church was a breath of fresh spiritual air!See more..
4.5St. Richard's Catholic Church(2 reviews) - Beautiful little church with interesting architecture Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals We saw this church from the highway in the distance and decided to drive over and take a closer look. To my surprise, the church was unlocked and so we walked inside. The church is small with quite pretty stained class windows on both sides. Outside the church is a beautiful statue area dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe with a statue of Sacred Heart of Jesus on one side and an angel on the other. The architecture of the church on the outside is quite interesting, which is what drew us here. Another rather interesting thing is that when you drive down that street, you'll find 4 churches of different denominations. We had only stopped in this (Catholic) church.See more..
