We booked this trip for a family of 4, we weren’t feeling adventurous to hire our own vehicle so we opted for a guided tour. This was hands down the best decision we made, introducing the well respected and highly knowledgeable Cody. After a few minutes into the trip it was evident that we were in safe hands and travelling with an extremely polite and professional tour guide. We saw and experienced sights that will stay with us for a lifetime, a trip up to Moon rock, seeing the giant Sequoias and then our final hike up to the top of Fresno Dome. If you get the opportunity then you must do this hike, this was the final destination and so worth it, the 360 degree views were amazing! We had a great experience at Happy Trails Rental. My wife and I rented an RZR 1000 XP with the Dynamix suspension and had an awesome day. The owner, Ben, took time to explain all the features and also the trail we were going to be on for the day. We did 80 miles of off roading through Johnson Valley and all the trails we encountered were fairly easy especially with this vehicle that can pretty much handle anything in its path. We would love to come back and experience some of the more challenging trails. The GPS was very accurate and we didn't have any trouble finding our way around these trails. Jorge our guide was professional and explained everything very thoroughly. He even stopped to clear the path ahead of us where larger rocks had fallen to make it easier for our ride. Jorge was patient and he seemed to enjoy having us as guests. I would return and do it again the views of Santa Barbara were amazing. We were so fortunate to have a clear day. Our guide, Ian lead the way in a Jeep Wrangler and we followed in a second Jeep. The Jeeps are modified for solid yet comfortable off road performance. Ian offered us a choice of several routes we could take for our half day tour. We were interested in vulcanoes, views and crossing water. Ian put together a custom tour that had everything we wanted to see. It is difficult to describe how awesome this tour is. My boys, ages 6 and 8 both loved it, as did my wife and myself. Ian is very knowledgeable in both the history and geology of the sites visited, narrating via the CB radio or in person during the stops. I highly recommend this tour! See more..
