    Palisades Tahoe image
Voted at North America's best ski resort for three years in a row and host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, our legacy has maintained a vibrant ski culture and mountain energy that spans from village to peak. Its spirit of outdoor adventure is reflected by the views of Lake Tahoe’s translucent waters, and its inspiration is carved into the slopes of the Sierra mountains. Beginners will find forgiving learning zones set among dramatic alpine scenery, while varied trails, bowls, and chutes mean that advanced skiers and snowboarders will never outgrow Palisades Tahoe's progressive terrain. With consistent snowfall that stays around well into the spring (and sometimes summer!), Palisades Tahoe boasts one of the longest ski and snowboard seasons in the country. 4. 5.0 Sky Falconry (105 reviews)
    - Few words describe the feeling
    Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Lessons & Workshops • Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Sky Falconry image
This is my third trip (two Hawk Walks and one lesson) to fly raptors with Sky Falconry. And I have another trip planned. Every time have been more than enjoyable than the last. Denise and Kirk are kind gracious hosts with minds full of knowledge not just about their birds, but raptor and bird conservation as a whole. Make no mistake- these are not their pets and the experiences to not allow for touching the birds in that manner. These animals are wild beings true to form. Any experience at Sky Falconry is more than a zoo attraction or a raptor rehabilitation center’s bird experiences. Having the bird in your gloved hand is the experience you’ll not soon forget. 5. 4.5 California Gold Panning (100 reviews)
    - Best Gold Mining Experience Ever!
    Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Lessons & Workshops
    California Gold Panning image
Ive tried a few gold mining or panning places around the country. In Alaska, North Carolina, and even other places in California, but Jamestown Gold Panning beats them all. Miner John answered all my questions and showed me so many tricks of the trade. This isnt your typical tourist attraction, Miner John is a real gold miner and a great teacher. He was patient, helpful, and really enjoys what he does. I wasnt the only person mining on Woods creek that day, and he still found time to always be there to help me learn all about gold mining and make my experience that much better. He definately inspired me to want to spend my weekends outdoors panning for gold and to have a great time doing it! See more..
  6. 4.5 Sacramento State Aquatic Center (25 reviews)
    - Wonderful Experience for Families
    Friday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM Sports Camps & Clinics • Lessons & Workshops
    Sacramento State Aquatic Center image
We first started using the Aquatic Center 5 years ago. We wanted to kayak, and this place has it all. You dont need experience to kayak here. They provide everything, and even help you in and out of the kayak. Parking is free, but the State Park next door is not, so dont get confused between the two. There is an awesome inlet across from the boat launch that offers tranquil waters with viewings of frogs, deer. fish and beaver. It's a great experience for children. They have sailing camps, kayak camps, etc. Since we purchased our own kayaks, we put in at Willow Creek and kayak to the Aquatic Center to meet friends who need to rent. You can actually kayak up beyond the Folsom Rainbow Bridge to the Prison, but it ends there. Take advantage of this Sacramento jewel. All you need is sunscreen, water shoes, and a water thermos. Oh, you must leave your ID and keys with the front desk till your return. See more..

For Mother's Day, I celebrated with my adult children (oxymoron?) at The Painted Earth in Menifee. We had the best wine (because we brought our own!), delicious appetizers, and dessert treats while creating beautiful flower pots, bowls, and dishes. The staff explained everything and helped us get started. They were there every step of the way when we needed them and so friendly!!! The music in the background was fun and stimulated our fun-side as a muse. Greatest way to spend time with family, friends, and love ones and have a lasting memory to take away and use. How wonderful is that???!!! See more..

    South Coast Aeronautics image
A friend and I took the Discovery flight. I had the most fun time like non other. Making the reservation was easy. Cary was super nice, calm and patient. We wanted to fly along the coast to see the Los Angeles port, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Malibu, etc., and the Hollywood sign. Cary pointed out fun little places and/or interesting facts. He answered questions and talked about flying etc. We definitely felt comfortable and at ease during the flight. Took great shots with the Hollywood sign right next to us and while flying over the coast we saw dolphins. It was fantastic and well worth it. Overall I highly recommend South Coast Aeronautics. I absolutely without a doubt will come back to fly with them and take other friends. See more..

This family of dancers, tumblers, and cheer-leaders has grown since its inception four short years ago (August 12, 2013). Their competition team has also grown, not just in numbers, but in their skill set. It is no wonder since the students are IMTC's first priority. From the classes teaching the very young, they address and conquer areas that other activity centers could not. This includes, but is not limited to, social and classroom behavior, following instructions, balance, coordination, fine motor skills, camaraderie, strength, flexibility, the arts, confidence, poise, and determination. Additionally, the owners reside in the area, which lends to the sense of community and community event involvement. IMTC offers the best training in the area with their student's interests at heart! If you're looking to improve your riding skills and to learn something new, then Coach Can is the guy to teach you! I've done cornering school days 1,2,3 and day 4 which cuts lap times, teaches lines and everything. The skills I've learned have already saved my life 3 times and I've prevented crashes because of what I've learned. His classes are a no BS attitude. And if you come thinking you know it all, check your ego at the door cause you dont. You get real life learning and sometimes 1 on 1 coaching. His classes are small and broken up into riding groups A,B,C riders. Dont waste your time with another school trying to teach you. If you want to learn come here. You will leave exhausted and your head spinning with a wealth of information. See more..

  19. 5.0 Indigo Equine (2 reviews)
    - Connecting to Your True Creative Self
    Lessons & Workshops
    Indigo Equine image
I just completed the “Connecting to Your True Creative Self” workshop at Indigo Equine this Saturday. I had no idea what to expect when I walked onto the ranch, and I ended up experiencing such an incredible day. 2020 has been a hard year for everyone, and this workshop was exactly what I needed to reground and get back in touch with myself and the world. I felt rejuvenated and refreshed afterwards, and highly recommend signing up for a workshop. We were a group of 3 women with our leader Andi, Horse Safety Manager Lisa, and photographer Jessica. Master Chef Ed provided morning coffee (strong the way I like it!) and a delicious lunch on an open veranda. We had a full day of visualization and creative exercises lead by Andi. Not having done many workshops in the past, I felt very comfortable and supported by Andi (and everyone else), and I got a lot out of each activity. These exercises were interspersed with on the ground interactions with the Indigo Equine herd (currently numbering at 7 horses, 1 steer and growing). It was incredible meeting all of the herd and interacting with them. They are a motley crew to be sure, and have a lot share with their human interlopers! The day was very full, but we never felt rushed, and it was very relaxing. The ranch is just gorgeous and secluded, but only a 40 minute drive for me from mid-city Los Angeles. It was a great escape, and I left the workshop with useful tools to lean into for my day to day life (not to mention the beautiful journal, water bottle, hand sanitizer and mask that Andi provided at the beginning of the workshop!). All the activities were outside and felt very Covid safe. Everyone was wearing masks and respectful of social distancing (except for the horses!). I highly recommend booking a workshop at Indigo Equine if you are feeling a little ragged from the stresses of today’s living. Take a day to let Andi and her team take care of you – you won’t regret it! See more..

Knitters and crocheters (yarn crafters) are always welcome to sit and do their craft at the tables - which is why this shop is often a must go to shop for crafts people from out of the area. The owners, Lynn and Lacey are very knowledgeable, great with color combos and matching you with a project that fits your abilities. Everyone is so friendly there... love this shop! - Everyone can feel like Picasso!
    Friday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Lessons & Workshops
This was such a fun experience for my young granddaughters that resulted in the creation of wonderful gifts for their mom! We made reservations on a "No Workshop Fee Day" so we saved the $5 per project materials cost and only paid for the wood item each girl picked out to paint. They get to pick what they want to make and get a tray with all the wooden parts. Each person then selects the colors they want and after putting on an apron, sits down and gets to work painting all the big pieces solid colors. Next, they go to the assembly step where a helper glues everything together for them. They also get to go to another stop where they can pick eyes, bows, flowers, etc. and a helper adds those just where they want them. Magically, everything comes together and both granddaughters were thrilled with their completed projects! There is even a special place where you can take a picture with the artist and their creation. There were kids, teens, small groups of adults, people of all ages having fun and lots of wood items to pick from. See more..

For those of us who love yarn stores and visit them wherever we are, we become 'experts' on what makes a good yarn store. For me, it's nice yarns, a decent inventory, nice staff, room to walk around and nice patterns. This has all of these things! It's not the biggest store in the world, but the owner has always been there when I visit and she is not only very nice but very helpful. She knows her stuff. Her daughter works there now and is equally knowledgeable; I'd say that they know different things which is complimentary. Not a huge selection but what they have is nice. See more..
