    - Very unique place, not a destination, but a great little side-trip
    Hot Springs & Geysers

We've been here a few times over the years. It is a very unique place, and really nice if you catch a time when it isn't crowded. The pools in total only have room for 10 people or so at a time. Best bet is a weekday, pitch a tent on BLM land overnight, so you can enjoy the springs under the stars, then get up early for sunrise, and before too many others start to trickle in. Be a good neighbor to other visitors and don't leave trash, make loud noise, or let your dog in the water. Seriously. This isn't a party spot, but a natural wonder and relaxing environment. Soaking without a suit is common here, and is functional more than anything. Who wants to have to pack up wet stuff after when you're on a roadtrip? Not a destination, but worth a short side-trip if it's on your way somewhere. The views across the valley are astounding. See more..

The hot springs literally go under the road way. You can't get a site closer to your car than this. But do park and get out of your car (if you are able) and spend some time looking. The bubbling hot pots are amazing and the colors of the springs surprised me. Like a little bit of Yellowstone right here in Lassen. See more..

We are heading to LA from Mammoth. I searched about Bishop and found this place. Arrived at 11.15 am. The pool was currently full. One of the guests said they will reopen at 2 pm after one hour break. The admission fee is $12.00 adults, $7.00 kids, and $4.00 for 2 years and under. She said the water is so good. But we could not wait till 2 pm because See more..

  7. 4.0 Deep Creek Hot Springs (43 reviews)
    - A spontaneous hike to the hot springs
    Hot Springs & Geysers
    Deep Creek Hot Springs image
Our first visit to Deep Creek Hot Springs. We accessed the trail through Bowen Ranch Road, paid $5/pp, and received a map. The gentlemen who collected our cash was friendly and insightful. We began our hike down at around 1:30pm. We finally reached the bottom an hour later. There were at least a dozen people scattered across multiple hot springs including a few kids. We only noticed one person fully nude. The vibe was really social. Everyone enjoyed their favorite beverage in the company of others and occasionally we got the breeze of Cannabis. We would consider the hike back up strenuous but well worth the glute and hamstring workout. Take your time, pack water and carbs. We plan to make the hike again but next time in the early morning. 8. 4.0 Buckeye Hot Spring (35 reviews)
    - Hot or Cold you are happy!

    Buckeye Hot Spring image
After a day of traveling, we camped just down the road and were able to cool down and then warm back up in this hot springs / cold river therapy area. Like many others have said, this hot springs was busy on our visit, but there was still lots of parking area. The access down to the river could be too steep for some, I tried to snap a picture, but given there were people there choosing to dip naked, I didn't want to be snapping pictures over the edge rudely. But just know that the hillside is a loose dirt/rock steep climb. Once down to the water there were a couple of man-built dipping areas made by piling stones to capture the hot water and create a 3 foot or so deep pool. I had to sit to be comfortable in the heat. And just on the other side of the pool - freezing cold river water. It was very refreshing and a nice way to relax with a cool beverage and talk to some new friends! See more..

  10. 3.5 Cold Boiling Lake (19 reviews)
    - Not boiling

This hike starts at the Kings Creek picnic area, but there didn’t seem to be any trail signs for it. Just follow the trail up the hill (don’t take the trail heading left, that goes to King’s Creek Falls trail). It’s about 0.8 miles, mostly flat, to Cold Boiling Lake. The lake itself was a bit disappointing, since there was no bubbling to be seen, except for a small mudpot off to the side. But it was certainly very pretty, with the golden grass and green trees surrounding the lake. From Cold Boiling Lake you can continue on to Bumpass Hell (1.9 miles), Crumbaugh Lake (0.5 miles), or Mill Creek Falls (2.8 miles). See more..
  11. 3.5 Wilbur Hot Springs (18 reviews)

Wonderful Japanese style hot springs. Don't believe the negative reviews. I was there today and it was very relaxing soaking in the three temperature flume pools. The woman at the front desk was nice. I enjoyed a few leisurely hours. I found the pools and deck area very clean. The only downside were some chatty Polish women in the silent area. This is a nice quieter alternative to Harbin. I like the layout better than Orr. See more..
  12. 4.5 Mercey Hot Springs (14 reviews)
    - Quirky place to get away
    Hot Springs & Geysers
    Mercey Hot Springs image
My husband and I decided to stay here on our way to Southern California from the Bay area. We decided to go to Mercey because we could enjoy hot springs after having taken a long hike the day before and playing disc golf. While their website lists disc golf as an activity, don't go to Mercey with disc golf being a major factor. There are 9 unmarked, dilapidated baskets. The course traverses some very bizarre, surreal landscape and solar panels. There are also some steep hills to go up and down. Now back to the facility itself. It is located way off the beaten path with nothing else around. The cabins are small but comfortable with heat and electricity. The bathrooms with flush toilets and showers are close by. The bathroom water is from the springs too. There is no cell service there. We did find out when we went to eat at the Panoche Inn (see my review) that T-Mobile and Metro PCS users have service. We were a bit disappointed with the temperature of the spring water (not hot enough). There are tubs that you fill yourself. I'd suggest letting the hot water run for a few minutes before plugging the tub. For the most part, the tubs were clean. Some were discolored, which I'm sure is due to the minerals in the water. The worst tubs had peeling enamel. There is a pool (water from the springs) also. Their website shows massage and yoga. Be sure to inquire about these, as they are seasonal. It's a bit pricey for what you get but worth it for the experience. See more..

  15. 3.5 Hot Springs Canyon Trail (2 reviews)
    - Great Views, Nice Hike
Bodies of Water • Hiking Trails • Hot Springs & Geysers
    Hot Springs Canyon Trail image
This is a great trail with rewarding views that can be done in about 2 hours. The trail is a loop, with one side going up a steep, rocky area, and the other following a wide, fire-engine access road. The trail goes past the ruins of an old hotel that opened in the 1800's and burned down in the 1930's. The large, stone base and stairs are all that's left. Next to these ruins are the hot springs themselves, where hikers can bathe in piping hot spring water. The trail goes up to a sub-peak about a third of the way up the mountain. Here, the views stretch from Oxnard in the South to Refugio in the North, with all of Montecito and Santa Barbara stretched like a carpet at your feet! See more..
