We were about 35 minutes late for our appointment on a Friday evening, still we were greeted politely and accommodated to a seat of our choice. The location is very beautiful and has a museum (closed because of COVID) and is also the site of the last mission built in 1823. The wines we tasted were well explained to us. The bet one we like was the Gewürztraminer, we ended up buying a bottle. In genera, we found that the white wines in Sonoma were one of the best ones we have ever tasted. We strolled around the property and one of the staff just stopped by and explained us the history of the location and how the Carrneros breeze affect the quality of the wines they produce. The tasting was $40 a person and we were able to do 3 whites and 3 reds along with two charcuterie boards. The pairings were phenomenal! Mikayla was an absolute pleasure and even gave us a tasting of her personal favorite. The setting of the winery is so peaceful and relaxing. My group went to 6 very high end vineyards over 3 days and purchased very expensive great wines along the way. However, at Caymus we were able to purchase cases for everyday consumption because of the high quality and reasonable cost. When visiting Napa with freinds, you sometimes get caught up in the moment and when you return home thousands of dollars lighter and the expensive wines start arriving at your home, it's hard to justify consuming $100 bottles every day so you save it for a special occasion". Caymus, however, is smart by offering excellent wines that you can consume every day , like their Conundrum line. We first visited Leoness in 2014, when the winery was just establishing itself. Now they seem mature in their facility and it is wonderful. We splurged on the private Perfect Wine Experience and were hosted by Jameson. We got superb treatment and tasted many superb wines, complemented by cheese pairings. Jameson showed no hesitation about bringing out wines that were not on our tasting list as we discussed our likes (no dislikes!).
