The tour to take!

Excellent, excellent tour. We were met by owner Karen, a gracious and interesting lady. The owner provided snacks (muffins, quiche, candy, nuts, fresh fruit, water, sparkling wine) adorned with beautiful setting and flowers. The yacht was beautiful and beyond expectations. We felt so special! Erica and Captain Mike were gracious, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We were on a smaller boat, so we were able to get closer to the whale….and the sighting was spectacular. The whale dove and came above the water surface every 30-60mseconds.. So very special! We were the only boat for almost an hour, then a large boat joined us and the whale left. I highly recommend this tour. Don’t do the large boats. The attention you get from the crew and the ability and skill of the crew to navigate close to the whales was worth the extra cost.

You don't want to miss this excursion.
From the get-go, our recent trip was extraordinary. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted by Stephanie, our guide and very knowledgeable Naturalist, as well as Josh, our very capable and friendly Captain. This trip was a birthday gift for my husband, and we were pleasantly surprised to walk on board to sparkling drinks and thoughtful birthday treats. We also truly enjoyed the intimate environment in which to observe the whales, which we came upon in no time at all. My husband, daughter, another guest, and myself, were able to see the most incredible, close up sightings, of four whales eating and resting, before they continued their journey to Mexico. We were so close that we could see the barnacles around their mouths. As my daughter stated to me, "this is one of the top five experiences of my life!" The staff worked very hard to make us feel comfortable and special, tipping is highly encouraged. I give this excursion my highest recommendation.

A couple of humpbacks close up
Our whale-watching tour with Secret Harbor Charter was on a windy morning with fairly rough water. A couple other whale-watching tours cancelled. I am glad Secret Harbor went out anyway. Compared to the larger whale-watching boats, Secret Harbor offers a customized, nimble, and smaller group (maximum of 6 passengers; we had 4) experience. Sliced oranges and muffins were awaiting our arrival, a nice touch. The safety briefing by Erica and Josh originally omitted the location of life vests, a pretty major oversight soon corrected. When the other couple spotted blows from the humpbacks, Captain Josh was quick to position us for the best seats as the whales cruised along staying pretty close to the surface for multiple views. Erica offered good naturalist information to describe the whale behavior. The water was rough. I was fine thanks to advance Dramamine. Due to the weather, the cruise ended early after a visit to a buoy favored by sea lions. It was a good experience and would be even better with good weather.
