Best Whale Watching in Monterey!!!

My wife and I sent on a Sunday morning 4-hour reduced capacity tour. The boat was not crowded as a result. We had a calm day out on the water, and saw TONS of whales (no pun intended). Captain Kate is either a Whale Whisperer, a whale magnet, or both, as the whales seem to come to her, and she knows where to go to see them, mostly getting there first before a lot of other boats from other companies arrive. The whole crew are marine biologists, very knowledgeable and friendly. During our day we watched a group of 10 or more humpbacks lunch feeding for over an hour, then followed two different pair of mother/calf humpbacks with more lunging, fluke slapping, and even saw the baby whale breach! Other assorted sea life included coastal bottlenose dolphins and a juvenile white shark.

    Best whale watching experience ever!!!!!!
I have been on over 300 whale watches as I love whales and dolphins. I used to go to Monterrey but the found blue ocean and Capt. Kate. Was on Kate’s boat yesterday. the boat is extremely comfortable, they take less people so more room and Kate always finds lots of great encounters. The crew were great. they share useful information and you can always ask questions. They don’t go on and on and talk while we are trying to experience the whales. The trip I go on is 3-4 hours which I recommend especially if you will only go on one trip. Tip: Go to Moas Landing and not Monterrey. .Many times they have to cone up to Moss Landing to find whales wasting an hour of the trip. We were out for about 10 minutes and had an encounter.Go on the morning trip if you can. Captain Kate also positions the boat perfectly so everyone can see and let’s you know exactly where to look so you don’t miss anything. It is an experience of a lifetime you don’t’t want to miss!! Highly recommend!

    Relaxing Day on the Water
Whale watching is a great way to spend time outdoors. Although we didn't see a lot of wildlife, it was very peaceful. We saw one young humpback that entertained us for quite a while, also some sea lions. The weather was overcast most of the time (this was a 10:00am trip) and it gets cold - be sure to dress warmly in layers and take sea sickness medication. The boat is clean and comfortable. Great for about 15 people - I'm glad they aren't taking full capacity. We did not pay extra to sit on the upper deck, the view was just fine from the front of the boat on the lower deck.
