Due to COVID restrictions, they modified the tours. All seats were assigned. We took the American Narrows Tour which was very pleasant. The guide was young but very knowledgeable but everything he pointed out was to his right going both ways which was our left as we were seated port side. The tour would have been been improved had he pointed out things on both sides as we traveled so that those on his left didn't have to constantly strain to see things. The captain took the microphone to give more detail because we passed a "laker" on the tour and he described the ship to us. The tour ended at Heart Island where Bolt Castle is to allow those who wished to get off and tour Bolt Castle. Definitely the highlight of the trip to be able to tour there. I recommend anyone planning to spend time at Bolt Castle as part of their tour, to plan on an early tour so ample time can be devoted to Heart Island. We chose the morning cruise on the Mohican which was about 2 1/2 hours. It goes about half way up the lake and includes many sights. For us it was just about the right length. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase and they were not ridiculously overpriced. Captain’s narration was good. Pleasant boat ride to the island learning some local history of the area. The island tour was fantastic! The knowledgeable and engaging tour guides tell you a fascinating and exciting tale about this unusual island and the life of the man behind it all. The ruins and the immaculately kept gardens were gorgeous. After the tour, you have some free time to explore the island on your own. There are many many steps from the dock to where you begin the tour, so sadly I would not recommend this to anyone who has mobility issues. I recommend wearing comfy shoes with good tread as the terrain can be steep in places. Dress in layers as the boat ride may be windy, but you will work up a sweat exploring the island. There was a small concession stand/gift shop area on the island where you could buy a cold drink, and a restroom if needed.See more..
What a great experience! Our instructor was Steve (Stevie Nips) He was the most experienced and knowledgeable guide, we were glad to be with him for our first experience, we felt safe. He also had good knowledge of the area and it's history along with many sarcastic jokes lol. ADK River Outfitters did a great job with this excursion from start to finish. The photos they take are a great addition. My only suggestion would be to have a photographer go down the river once (without people) and take the majestic photos that cannot be taken any other way and have them available for purchase as well. If you are within one hundred miles of Raquette Lake, strongly recommend that you make time for this adventure. Numerous different cruises around the Lake of various time intervals. And some of these tours around the Lake include a buffet meal plus drinks and alcohol for extra cash. It is very reasonable and very enjoyable. Lots of history is given by the founder of the cruise (by tape) of various houses and artifacts around this roughly three mile by six-mile lake and the various houses and structures built on the edge of the Lake. This is a family-run business; run very well. Very safe, great food, excellent tour. What more could you ask for. Recommended very highly with no reservations. But by the way, suggest you call ahead to make reservations.....really needed given the demand to get on the ship.See more..

They had beanbag chairs on the bow of the boat which was utterly cool to sit and sail in. Doing a sunset sail on the Hudson River is now one of my most favorite things. We recently stayed in Lake Placid very close to the marina. Called the ticket office to see if we could purchase tickets for a tour later in the day. The young man said that was possible and since we are a family of 11 it was a good idea. At boarding time for the 2:30 tour a lot of people were waiting and we were concerned about a crowded boat. Well young Captain Steve took our big group in a separate boat. We had an awesome cruise! The scenery is just breathtaking. Captain Steve provided us with very interesting facts and stories about the lake history, “cabins” and the people who built them. He was especially kind to the youngsters on board. We had the best time, the kids were so happy and engaged the entire time. The scenery is gorgeous and captain Tim had many interesting facts about the lake and the surrounding area. Captain Brett took me and my family for a half-day sail around Henderson Bay aboard his 32' Ericson yacht on a beautiful August day. It was a light wind day, so we motored a bit to reach our destination with time for paddleboarding, kayaking, swimming, and exploring. We explored the clear water shallows around some local islands while on anchor using the paddleboard and kayak Captain Brett had onboard, then relaxed some more on deck while returning under sail heading downwind. Captain Brett was very accommodating and focused on making sure we enjoyed our trip. He was professional, and inspired confidence in our most hesitant sailors that we were in good hands. The cost of this trip was very reasonable considering what a great time we had and how much it would cost to own and operate a 32' sailing vessel. We took a 3 hour tour with Captain Jack of Blue Lagoon Boat Tours and had a fantastic time!!!! We were five adults. The boat was super modern and clean with plenty of room for everyone. Captain Jack is awesome! He took us for a scenic ride along the shoreline giving history and facts on some of the most beautiful homes and resorts on Lake George. We then went tubing and cliff jumping followed by a nice stay in Paradise Bay which was absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. Thanks to the staff at the Blue Lagoon Resort and Captain Jack leading the tour we all had the best time of our life and will certainly return for another tour during our next stay. We tried the Sunset Kayak Tour from Newburgh, NY. Our guide Colin was great. We were a family of 4 brand new kayakers, with 8 total kayakers in our tour group. Colin explained how to row/steer and checked all our gear before we set out on the water. My sister tipped over within minutes of leaving the pier, and ended up in the Hudson River. Colin was great and helped her get back to the pier and into her kayak, calmly and safely. It was smooth sailing from there. The views are gorgeous! I can't wait to try one of their other tours from their 3 total departure points. They suggest that you bring a change of clothing and shoes, which came in handy. His knowledge of the area is vast filled with historical facts, myths and lots of humor added in. My top priority was to see the Rock Island lighthouse so we were able to dock and go to the top (that guide was very knowledgeable, as well). First and foremost, if you are wanting to tour the Erie Canal towns, it is a five - seven hour ride through seven locks from the home base, Seneca Falls, to the first of the towns. If you are interested in touring Seneca lake, the lake is only a couple hours ride with one lock thru. We chose this company mainly because it had a steering wheel (not a rudder stick) and a bow thruster. The boats are 20+ years old and are showing their age. They have two beds and two commodes and sink area, one shower, dining seating for four easily and a well equipped kitchen. It is a steel boat weighing about 13 tons, so it doesn't move fast or handle nimbly. There was just two of us so we relied heavily on the bow thruster to maneuver, especially during lock thru. The bow thruster went intermittent on us on our second day and couldn't be relied on. We notified the company but they did not have parts to do the repair at that time (the thruster would have to be removed to be repaired as they were no longer made). We decide not to continue and returned to Seneca Falls midway thru the week. The contract has clauses to protect the company from mechanical failures, so we were out of luck relative to a refund. We explained the situation to the owner and the response was the boats are used a lot and sometimes break down. There is a 10 mph speed limit on lots of the canal. And the boat only goes about that fast, so you have ample time to enjoy the scenery. Seneca Falls is a nice place with restroom, shower, and laundry facilities - shower floors are very dirty. The other nice place is Newark, NY. Great place to stop. We toured Fairport (by car). It looks to be a good place to stop. I understand that there is a nightly charge to stay. We had an incredible time with Gerald on our private airboat tour. The drive to the landing from our Miami Beach hotel was a little under an hour. Gerald had ear protection on board for all of us and we chose to wear them, as it's pretty noisy when in motion. He showed us plant life in the Everglades and pointed out birds we saw. The highlight was visiting Gerald's house that he built in the Everglades. We got to see a variety of fish and a few alligators around his property.
