So glad we discovered Carillon, great cruise on Lake Champlain
Relaxing, fun and very informative way to see this end of Lake Champlain - refresh your history knowledge (or learn it in the first place?) of the importance that Fort Ticonderoga played to our country in so many wars. Cruising past Fort Ticonderoga, getting very close, was fabulous. We learned about the history of the lake itself and it's impact on the development of the area, and through the boat's underwater sonar, saw many underground shipwrecks. The onboard speakers are very crisp, allowing you to hear without struggle, what the captain and his wife are saying. (I've been on tours where the onboard sound system is awful and you miss half of what is being said, but not so at all on Carillon!) The captain and his wife take turns telling humorous stories and anecdotes, historical background info, discourse on the flora and fauna. We saw some young bald eagles as we sailed along. We highly recommend this cruise. It is very reasonably priced and the captain and his wife are not only very nice, but are clearly passionate about what they do - highly recommend!

Brings the history of the lake's southern environs to life
Enjoyable, informative guide to the history of the area. Perhaps a little US biased ;) An ideal way to travel and understand the military and logistical importance of Lake Champlain.
