4.5Montauk Point Lighthouse(1.467 reviews) - Just beautiful- I'm glad I didn't pass it by Closed now - 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
The lighthouse is situated on a perfect spot with great views all around. Having a blue sky day didn't hurt either, The lighthouse building house a great museum just filled with interesting things and photographs- it is well curated. Going up in the lighthouse is an adventure. 137 spiral staircase steps (narrow) that you climb holding a rope on the left. When you get to the top, you can (only 1 person) step out on a small balcony for a bird's eye view of the area that will take your breath away. I highly recommend going to the top if you can do the stairs. The history of the lighthouse is also fascinating- take the time to enjoy the museum. Very nice gift store as well.See more..
4.5Saugerties Lighthouse(244 reviews) - Don't miss this interesting lighthouse tucked at the end of a path Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
I passed the sign for the Saugerties Lighthouse on my trip up to Catskill, NY and planned a trip when I drove back down to Saugerties. The path down the lighthouse can be difficult without the right shoes and make sure to go on a sunny day while the sun is shining. That path can be dangerous when it gets dark outside. On a sunny afternoon it is very nice walk. There are all sorts of interesting wildflowers along the route. The lighthouse itself can use some renovation. The place was closed inside because it serves as a B & B and the lighthouse keepers home. Still the lighthouse looks very majestic on the side of the river. It built in a very different era and you can see its many uses.See more..
4.5Tibbetts Point Lighthouse(138 reviews) - Great spot to check out the lake becoming the river Lighthouses
This lighthouse was erected in 1827 when its first lamps were fueled by whale oil; today the buildings and grounds serve as an historical and educational resource for the public to enjoy.See more..
The First Natural Gas Lighthouse. Finished in 1829, the 40-foot tall Barcelona Lighthouse (Portland Harbor) was the very first natural gas lighthouse in the country. It was in Federal Lighthouse Service until 1859. At that time it became privately held through various owners until 2008, when New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation acquired it. Though it no longer has the original lens, nor is used for navigational purposes, it is still lit and visible today through an agreement with the Town of Westfield. The lighthouse is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historical Places. The Keeper's cottage is open in a joint partnership with the Town of Westfield Visitor Center and a seasonal Wed-Sun docent with NYS Parks. The lighthouse itself is not open to public ascent due to structural issues at this time.See more..
4.0Buffalo Lighthouse(57 reviews) - Very nice waterfront and lighthouse Lighthouses
The Buffalo lighthouse is located at the end of a very nice waterfront park by lake Erie. The lighthouse is accessible for free (pedestrian entrance is on the right of the Coast Guard base vehicules entrance). There are free street parking. The waterfront park is really nice to walk or bike and spend some time relaxing by the water of lake Erie. The lighthouse is the oldest Buffalo building standing at it's original location. It's only a short drive from downtown, I recommend you make the short detour to see it.See more..

4.0Thirty Mile Point Light(41 reviews) - Excellent views from the top of the lighthouse Lighthouses
We spent two nights at the Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse, 4 sisters spending quality time together. Rooms are very comfortable, all appliances worked. We brought our own sheets, towels and food. Even though it rained most of the first two days we were there , the lake had white caps and the wind was strong, we enjoyed our stay and would come back again. The day we left we watched the sun rise from the east side bedroom and it was glorious! We did tour the lighthouse and braved the wind to go outside at the top.See more..
4.0Champlain Memorial Lighthouse(17 reviews) - Worth the modest fee to check out. Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
We wanted to check out the lighthouse and see what it was all about. We had to pay the $6 day use fee at the campground to enter the area even though we were not camping. It was worth it. We got to go to the top and look out from the railing area. You can also walk down to the dock on Lake Champlain and watch the boats come and go. It is worth stopping by and checking out.See more..
Whenever I go to Sylvan Beach at Lake Oneida I stop by the refurbished Lighthouse. It's a unique type of lighthouse that the Verona Beach Lighthouse group of volunteers lovingly restored. It's a peaceful place with benches and a great view of the lake. It's a nice place to stop.See more..
5.0Bluff Point Light(1 review) - Touring the a Lake Champlain Lighthouse on Valcour Island Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
There are a number of campsites and trails on this beautiful island . The Valcour Island Heritage Trail is a 7.5 mile loop around the island, but the true highlight is the Bluff Point Lighthouse. The Clinton County Historical Assn. (CCHA) conducts tours of the lighthouse interior on Sunday afternoons in July and August. The lighthouse was built in 1874, the last manned light station on beautiful Lake Champlain. A steel tower and automated light was erected in 1930 to replace it but the old light and its function have been restored thanks to the CCHA. The lower two floors of the building, living quarters for the light keeper and family, contain some historical exhibits about the history of the lighthouse. You can climb up to the light itself (now solar-powered battery operated) and go out on to the small balcony for a fantastic view of the lake and the region.See more..
