    Proctor's Theater image
Proctor's Theater is absolutely lovely. The inside of the theater takes one back in time to a bygone era of majestic theaters. There is not a bad seat in the house, although I prefer the center orchestra area. The seats were updated a few years ago, and they are more comfortable than the old seats. Yet they are made for people with a smaller body type. We have attended many plays and performances at Proctor's over the years and the acoustics are very good in the theater. It is one of our favorite theaters. See more..

Sound of Music is my favorite musical and I was so excited to have this be my first experience at the Glimmerglass Opera house because the show was amazing. The acting was fantastic and everyone's voice was phenomenal.
They have a cute little gift shop along with food and beverages to purchase. Nice selection of quick bites and local beers and wine.
Mask wearing was mandatory but I had no issue with that. The performers are at least owed that.
Well worth the experience and hope to attend many more times.

We attended a concert and found the facility adequate. The concourse area was cramped but sufficient. The restrooms had plenty of stalls but not enough sinks. Our big gripe is the parking. Space was mo problem but getting out after the show was a real problem. No organization and no parking lot supervision... This won't be an easy place to leave after the show. Allow 90 minutes.. 17. 4.5 Lafayette Theatre (107 reviews)
    - This small town 1920's "Movie Palace" is a gem.
Wednesday: 6:15 PM - 10:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Historic Sites • Movie Theaters • Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Lafayette Theatre image
The Lafayette Theatre, named for the Revolutionary War hero the Marquis de Lafayette, was designed by architect Eugene DeRosa and its construction completed in 1924. Originally, it was equipped with a custom-designed Muller organ to accompany silent films and live performances. The silent film “Scaramouche” directed by Rex Ingram was the first to grace its screen. At that time tickets cost 25 cents! The theater became home to live vaudeville shows and film presentations and has since remained a single screen movie theater. In the late 1980s, the old stage was redone and the New York Theatre Organ Society installed a new organ, the Ben Hall Memorial Mighty Wurlitzer. The Lafayette remains a single screen movie palace to this day. See more..

Kids a wanted to see paw patrol. Why not go to drive in 5 min from the hotel and also suffer through the new space jam?! Price was right for tickets and concessions. Large popcorn with I believe real butter under $6. We even rented a boom box for $5 from concession stand so we didn’t have to run the car. This will be tradition for us each time in the area. Suggestions…bring bug spray and long pants(even if hot out). Skeeters and large black flies that bite. Looking forward to our next trip here! See more..

    St. George Theatre image
Wow, what a beautifully renovated theatre to come see any show/concert. Most of all the seats are pretty comfortable compared to the Broadway Show Theatres in Times Square. Bathrooms are new and clean but not very large if everyone's nature calls at the same time:-)haha Access for the handicap or physically challenged is adequate but not for the lower orchestra seating since there are some steps to the lower area. Just check out my pictures and you can see how beautiful it's all in full glory. Ornate like a Russian or Eastern European church. Perhaps you can say a prayer for the entertainers performing or confess your errors to your friends while you wait for the show to begin. It's really that inspirational and awesome theatre. In the early 1970s, Binghamton University professor and soon to be theater department chairman, Dr. John Bielenberg sought to expand the theater department's available venues to an off-campus site.Dr. Bielenberg and his colleagues found the Cider Mill. It had been in the Ciotoli family since the 1940s, and was a popular seasonal attraction for lovers of fresh apples, cider and donuts. The warehouse side of the Cider Mill was just what they were looking for.In 1991, when it became necessary for the University to give up the playhouse, it was restarted as an independent non-profit by Tom Kremer, Craig Saeger and Barbara Wolfe. They were supported over the years by dedicated Board Members, a super-hardworking group of staff members, the Ciotoli family and the devotion of the patrons, donors and volunteers. In all, the last 38 years have brought more than 270 dramas, comedies and musicals, and more than 5,000 performances to the Playhouse stage. We came to this theatre to see Buyer and Cellar while we were staying in Lake George, and was very impressed with the quality of both the the show and the theatre itself. - The best of old time nostalgia and new independent film!
    Theaters
    Capitol Theatre image
The Capitol Theater in Rome has held a number of themed film festivals over the years including the annual much loved Capitolfest in early August every year. This festival appeals to early movie enthusiasts, meaning lovers of early sound films and of of silent films shown with musical accompaniment by the original 1928 house organ that comes up to stage height during intermissions and goes back down to orchestra level for film presentations. The organizers are very concerned about historical preservation and authenticity. More recently the organization has acquired adjacent buildings and is offering new independent film screenings in smaller 100 and 50-seat venues. As others have mentioned there are all sorts of live performances during the year that do not involve movies. The Capitol itself is quite an attractive building with most original details intact. It was built and opened in 1928. Check out their website for events. When in Rome, go to the Capitol! See more..
