4.5Breakneck Ridge Loop(106 reviews) - Third time hiking always love this trail Spent 2-3 hours Mountains • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
This was the third time i did the breakneckrdge hike. All times we started later in the day around 3pm and was able to find parking no problem and all the crowds had already finished the hike. The first section of the hike is straight up and for us super fun. You have t have proper hiking shoes and be in descent shape and bring water. The views are phenomenal and this time there were lots of hawks drifting in the air sort of suspended and riding the air it was magical. The start of the hike can be a little strenuous but the end is a meandering path. Despite the naysayers saying it’s dangerous. it’s fine you do need to be careful but if you are aware and in pretty good shape you’ll do great. again this was our third time to hike this and we thoroughly enjoyed it every time.See more..
It’s hard to believe that this beautiful, quiet environment is located just off a state road. Once you enter the Wolf Conservative Center, you are immersed in this private little forest. Actually, it’s not that little since there are acres of property designated as wolf enclosures. We enjoyed seeing the Ambassador wolves up close and found the presentation to be very informative. Perhaps because the weather was a little cool on the day of our visit, the wolves were active and we were able to see the Red Wolves and Mexican Gray Wolves walking around in their enclosures. Such beautiful animals! The entire staff was so friendly and helpful from the time we parked, throughout the tour and in the gift shop on our way out. We would definitely recommend visiting the Wolf Conservation Center.See more..

5.0Root Glen(35 reviews) - Fantastic, with this helpful hint… Nature & Wildlife Areas
Type in “Elihu Root House” for directions as the address on the website is no where near this trail. You will be very, very close to the trail and should be able to find the sign right there. It’s so beautiful and I am SO lucky that a Hamilton college employee drove me to the actual trail because I never would have found it.See more..
The kids and I enjoyed a leisurely day spent among animals that one doesn't typically see. We were attracted to the venue originally as some of the animals came from a family member's zoo that was closed due to health problems with the family member - was great to see what a good home the animals would have (my son played with the baby wolves and other animals). The tractor ride was fun, with the driver being exceptionally friendly and fun. Great little park - a fun, relaxing day.See more..
I enjoyed a social distancing walk here with a friend. So peaceful! Good combination of narrow wooded trails and wide open grassy paths..lovely views of this pond which is quite big. 4.5Orange County Arboretum(26 reviews) - Free garden, absolutely worth a stop Nature & Wildlife Areas
This place is really nice. It's a small arboretum but a good walk around while taking pictures and such would take anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. It is the best thing we did the day we were in that area. The flowers and displays are really well done. Worth your time if you are an outdoors type. Front entrance gate to get in might fool you, it looks like it's closed but you just have to pull your car up to the gate, similar to the ones they have in non-public facing businesses. To be honest there is not much to do in this neck of the woods so if you are in the area or are passing through, I highly recommend a stop here. Bathrooms open even during covid times. Free, but leave some money in their donation box on your way out. Nobody is there to pressure you to do so.See more..
It was so much fun seeing the actual sap comi g from the tree to store. Jim was our guide, who waa able to put all the technical jargon into laymens terms. Tasting the various syrups was fun and informative. While we were there someone arrived with a vat of harvested sap and we watched as the sap was put into the system to be filtered and cooked. The building and grouds are well maintained. Our grouo had just hiked the loop trail at Henrys Woods and had seen the sugaring off lines in the woods. Wear a hat and gloves!!See more..
4.0Nannen Arboreum(21 reviews) - Natural perfection Nature & Wildlife Areas
We have a cabin in nearby Salamanca, NY and this place is utter, beautiful perfection. I am a gardener and truly apprehensive the arboretum of native trees along with lovingly attended beds of flowers and plants. The natural energy of this place is a zen experience. Very grateful to have this go-to spot safely outdoors. I have gone with family to this site, no children. However, this is a lovely place to teach youngsters the importance of caring for our environment. The beautiful rise of the hills surrounding this site as viewed from the lake is heavenly.See more..
What a beautiful place! The welcome center has numerous kid friendly displays and adults will enjoy them too. The trails are well marked and they vary in length so if you don't have a lots of time, or just aren't up to a long hike, you can find one that will get you out in nature. The butterfly house was a great surprise and they have a garden too. We brought our dog with us and enjoyed hiking on several of the trails. The one that went along the river was so pretty and peaceful. We did meet a few people on the trails but it was ever crowded. There is a small gift shop inside the welcome center too. We will certainly be returning again.See more..
4.5Knox Farm State Park(20 reviews) - Beautiful park for locals and visitors alike. State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
I was visiting EA and staying at a place that was across the street from Knox Park. I took advantage of my location and the nice weather and took some long walks through the park at different times of the day, on different days of the week, and always found it enjoyable. The dog park section is usually the busiest area but there are many different tree-lined paved paths, gravel/dirt paths leading into wooded areas, or paths taking you next to ponds if you'd like find some peace and quiet. Really a nice place for an evening stroll, the locals are lucky to have such a place to unwind and visitors are lucky once they find out about it and venture into the park to sit on a bench, stretch out under a tree, or choose a path and go for a walk/run/bike ride.See more..

4.5Stone Valley Trail(17 reviews) - Wonderful Day Hike Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
One of the most scenic hikes I’ve done in the Adirondacks in quite some time. The east side is spectacular (with some dangerous sections- not really for kids). The west wide is less so, but would be good for mountain biking. The whole loop was about 8 miles and it took us 3 hours. Not much change in elevation but the total distance made it delightfully strenuous. Happy we did it- amazing scenery!See more..
It was a beautiful spring day here in Western New York, 40 degrees with a brilliant blue sky. My friend suggested a hike, so I went to my hiking bucket list and chose Tillman Road Wildlife Management Area. We had such a good time walking on the boardwalk and beyond, around a large pond or small lake. We found out after we drove away from the parking area that there are a few other parking areas, and the trails appear to be much more extensive than we thought they were. If we go back, I hope we can have a map of the trails with usSee more..

4.5Cat and Thomas Mountains(14 reviews) - Hike with my husband Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
This trail from edgecomb pond parking lot was 2.4 up and down. Beautiful views up top. The hike itself is not easy. About 1 hour up and 1 hour down. I downloaded their map from their website to my phone which helped out. See more..
