4.5Niagara Falls(8.161 reviews) - it is like dream come true Spent 2-3 hours Waterfalls
Niagara Falls consists of three magnificent waterfalls spanning the border of Ontario and New York—the 164-foot tall Horseshoe Falls is on the Canadian side while Bridal Veil And American Falls are on the New York side. These picturesque falls combined have the highest flow rate in North America. There are many ways to enjoy the falls, including going on hiking trails and boardwalks at the base, or visiting viewpoints at the top of the falls. The popular way to get up close to the falls is to hop on the Maid of the Mist boat tour from the bottom of Niagara Gorge. – TripadvisorSee more..

Made up of two cascades totaling 260 feet in height, Kaaterskill Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in New York. The stunning falls have been featured in many books, essays, poems, and paintings, and the area is protected as part of the North Mountain Wild Forest. You can get to the falls via the Kaaterskill Falls Trail, but the quick 1.4-mile trek can get rather steep and rocky at times, so climbing shoes are recommended. You can also head up to the viewing platform at the very top for a spectacular view. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Glen Falls(211 reviews) - Glenn Park Falls a Gem in the village of Williamsville Waterfalls
08/13/20 Always great to walk through this area and reminisce about the Inferno and Glenn Park amusement park of my youth. Great for pictures and or relaxation listening to the the sounds of water going over the falls. View the review from Amherst Veterans Memorial Park for a 2 mile walk around including Glenn Park. If you are in the area, stop by definitely worth your time to view even if it is a short timeSee more..
The first 1/4 mile was an easy walk in covered woods which was great on an 85 degree day. The last 1/4 of mile was a moderate trail and too much for my 75 yr old parents so they had a seat as we went the rest of the way with our kids. In all is was a very nice day.See more..
Reminds me of Niagara Falls. You can get closer by descending a long stairway, but the only way out is back up the stairs, so be sure you are fit to climb the stairs. There’s even a sign about this at the top of the stairs. Chain link fence prevents people trying to swim, for good reason.See more..
4.5Buttermilk Falls(94 reviews) - Breakfast Picnic at the Falls Waterfalls
Massive quantity of water over big boulders, soothing sounds of rushing streams almost like an orchestra of sounds. Need to be careful though and not get too close lest risking getting swept in & caught in a powerful eddy. An ADK park ranger came by to make sure people were staying safely & respectfully away from the edges. See more..

5.0High Falls Trail(20 reviews) - Easy Hike to a gargeous water fall Waterfalls
Even though we went there on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, trails were not crowded. Nice relaxing place to be that is well shaded and it is only a .6 mile walk to the waterfall, which was flowing nicely after heavy rains earlier in the week. The others there were quietly enjoying the place as if it inspired serenity.See more..
5.0Niagara Falls(15 reviews) - SO much water! Waterfalls
Enjoy the falls by day and by night. At night, they are lit with huge colored lights and fireworks at 10pm. Walk across the bridge to Goat Island to see the falls from a different perspective. It can get very crowded, especially on holidays and weekends.See more..

4.0Fitzgerald Falls(11 reviews) - Great short Hike Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
I started hiking this short trail when my sons were in backpacks, they are now over 30 and over 6 feet tall. It has always been a wonderful place to short hike. It is an easy path to follow. Many years ago they added the bridge , this did make it easier to cross the small stream. I haven't been back in a while , but this review has spiked my interest. Just recently married and will have to see if I can talk my husband into a short hike. See more..
4.5Medina Falls(11 reviews) - Falls near the Erie Canal Waterfalls
Beautiful waterfall that you can view from the tow path of the Erie Canal. Fun to look down on the falls and see the kayakers gets close to the falls in Orchard Creek. If you don’t want to walk the ten minutes from downtown, there is a small parking lot on the west (town) side of the one lane bridge across the canal. Walk 200 hundred feet to your right from the parking lot to see the falls. Nice view of the town and bridge too. Falls were going strong in August, so may not be too dependent on rainfall. If you have young kids, keep close watch as you are walking the tow path. No fences on guardrails on the canal side and a steep drop off on the waterfall side.See more..
Definitely someplace you want to visit!! The boiling pot is located in this park. There is a trail to follow up and through wintergreen park. But please no diving off the fall or in the 'boiling pot' , it can be dangerous. People have lost their life. But it is beautiful and quite unique!!See more..
We came on a Monday morning and found parking at the top of the falls, on Laurel House Road. If you come on a weekend and it is full, I believe you can go to the North South Lake campground, park there and hike less than a mile on a very easy road. Now, the falls hike: from the top you will go down, and then go down some more on 300 steps. But it's worth it, the view at the bottom of the falls is wonderful. Then you'll have to climb back up. If you're in moderately ok shape, it's doable. Just pace yourself. Of course when you hike through the woods you do not see the falls, but at the end... What a view! See more..
4.5Beaver Meadow Falls(8 reviews) - Great, day filling hike with several waterfalls Waterfalls
I looked this hike up on lakeplacid.com where it is called the great falls loop bringing you to beaver falls and then continues all the way to the lower ausable lake where the even more magnificent Rainbow falls (30meters high) are. The hike itself is moderate untill beaver falls and slightly less moderate (no level gain but a lt of boulders and wetland) to Rainbow falls. But the views are amazing. Be sure to bring a camera because each corner is photogenic here.See more..
Free to see this beauty! Just down the street from the money gouging Ausable Chasm. Nice and empty and pretty!See more..
4.0Cascade Falls(7 reviews) - Long Walk But Worth It Waterfalls
I recently went to Old Forge and for the first time did some hiking there. One of the hikes was to Cascade Falls. This is not a huge falls but the setting is gorgeous and it is not a hard walk. A little wet in spots but not hard.We walked the whole trail and we were there for about 5 hours. Cascade Lake is nice also and we stopped there for awhile to take in the scenery. The leaves were past peak but it was still nice. If you are in the area take the walk it is worth it.See more..

5.0Barberville Falls(4 reviews) - Spectacular! But Closed Memorial Day to Labor Day Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
This is a hidden gem which is why it is closed from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Why can't New York be like Vermont where swimming in old quarries and swimming holes in brooks and secluded lakes is allowed? It is your personal risk not the landowners'. Write to your lawyer/assemblymen and lawyer/state senators and lawyer/Governor and tell them to get out/off of people's land. There will be no place left for the children to go.See more..
5.0Bog River Falls(3 reviews) - Quick stop or long stop Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
You can slide down the rapids in to pools and walk back up again.. let the locals show you how to do it. Not a lot of parking. Trail is on the east side of the bridge. See more..
To see the Lyons Falls Waterfall you have to cross the bridge over Black River (from west to east) and take the next left onto Rt 39 N. There is a small parking area about a thousand feet from the turn from where you can walk practically next to the falls. A better viewing point of the falls is located anothe half a mile up north. The presence of the power station spoils the experience somewhat.See more..
5.0Delphi Falls County Park(3 reviews) - A Beautiful Waterfalls and Park Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
Just opened in 2018, this formerly private residence has now been opened as a Madison County Park. Well worth the drive from anywhere, it is a beautiful waterfall and a very quiet little park. The walk to the waterfalls is only about .2 miles and there are picnic tables near the falls for your enjoyment. Well worth seeing and enjoying the beauty and tranquility of it all.See more..
4.5Dionondahowa Falls(3 reviews) - Great Walking Trail with Amazing Waterfall Views Spent < 1 hour Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
This trail is just to the north of the Ice Cream Man on Windy Hill Rd. The trailhead is easy to miss. It's not well marked. Go slow and look for a pull off on your right about 2/3 of a mile north of the intersection of Windy Hill Rd with Route 29. There is space for two cars to pull off and the trail is marked by a sign not visible from the rd. This trail is about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile long and winds along a hill crest overlooking the Battenkill River. There is a waterfall that can be quite impressive and loud (especially in the spring or in times of increased rainfall). It's fairly easy for most but be careful with younger kids - will need some supervision to make sure they don't fall down into the river or ravine.See more..
3.5Clarendon Falls(2 reviews) - Not A Destination Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls Near the center of town (4 corners) next to a park with a pavilion, you will see the falls from a small parking lot. A short walk through the grass field will give you a better look at the falls, and a bench to sit on. Maybe 20 - 30’ high, it is worth seeing if in the area, but don’t go out of your way.See more..
We found this falls listed on a website for waterfalls in New York state and decided to swing by while exiting the adirondacks. The falls are beautiful, with several levels. There were quite a few folks enjoying the pools at the base, as well as quite a few folks jumping in from very high up to show us that the plunge pools at the base of the falls are very deep. Enjoy the view whether it is just off the road or if you go down closer.See more..
3.0Whitaker Falls(1 review) - loved this spot as a child Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
Beautiful spot for a short hike and a picnic. Park has been modernized with a small and a large pavilion for family and group picnics. The trail along the gorge, however, is in terrible condition. The fences separating the rough trail from the drop-off are old, rotten, and completely absent in places. While the scenery is gorgeous (no pun intended) we did not feel safe.See more..
While this area was originally inhabited by the native Mohicans, the Village of Valatie was founded circa 1665 by the Dutch, who named this area "Vaaltje", meaning "little falls". The Dutch 'Vaaltje' ultimately evolved to the anglicized "Valatie" that we are today. Part of New York's original New Netherland, the Village of Valatie was considered Northern Columbia County's center of commerce throughout the 19th century. Valatie incorporated in 1856.See more..
