    I took the boat ride tour on a cool day in June. The boat ride was lovely and the history of the castle was not what I expected, but definitely taught me a lot. I'd recommend this to folks who have lived in the area and never visited as well as people who are visiting the Hudson Valley. It's a very interesting piece of history and has uniquely gorgeous views of the Hudson River. If you are taking a group it was about $40 per head so keep that in mind for cost. And although we were allowed to eat on the boat you are not allowed to eat on the grounds, but you have to take everything you brought with you on the boat on the island. Pack minimally but make sure you have hydration. The terrain isn't even and it is steep, but there are stairs. If you have children or accessibility issues, keep that in mind before you decide to go.
