I am not a frequent contributor but when I come across something special, I like to share. If you are visiting Niagara Falls, as we were, or lucky enough to live close by do explore Lockport and you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend the Historic Palace Theater. We took in 42nd street and found a beautiful recently renovated theater. The young cast, of over 40 individuals, had tremendous voices and tap dancing routines that belong in the theaters of broadway. Also visited the visitor/discovery center that was full of information on the Erie Canal, which runs through the center of town. Didn’t have time to take a boat ride on the canal or visit some of their other attractions but hope to do so on a future trip. Lockport, a short drive from Niagara, is well worth taking in.See more..

4.0Lake George Visitor's Center(5 reviews) - Small Place, Helpful People for Information and Advise. Visitor Centers
We saw this Visitor's center when we went parasailing. The parasailing was just behind this center. Small center with public restrooms. Brochures, maps and of course human help. We went in to ask about Martha's Ice Cream and the drive up Prospect Mountain as the latter has some information on the website that it was closed off in some sections. Got the information we needed here. Quick visit to help you organize your trip if you haven't done so. Please note that although they belong to the same general agency, this establishment is NOT the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce Tourist Information/Visitor's center. The latter is found along State Route 9 This visitor center is at the corner of Canada street and Beach Road which is further up the Chamber of Commerce center. I have pictures but there is no button for me to upload pictures.See more..

4.5The Palisades Parkway Visitor Center and Bookstore(3 reviews) - A nice place to visit before making the trek upstate Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Visitor Centers This parkway stop is a must. When you need to go, you need to go (restroom available) especially since there are no convenient bathroom stops after it, going upstate and going back towards the city. (It’s the first one of 3 until the GW bridge.) It’s a great little store filled with books, guides, stuffed animals, rocks, drinks and snacks. Lovely assortment. The store has changed hands in the past couple of years where they have improved the merchandise and it’s a little more costly, but hasn’t everything gone up in price. Aside from that, it’s an excellent pit stop for the dogs to relieve themselves and sniff around. BTW, there is no gas station here. If you are on your way upstate, drop in. It’s well worth a look see. Enjoy!See more..

I entered the New York Information Centre in Batavia to have a map of New York State. The clerk was very nice and gave it to me for free. Our car all of a sudden had shown a warning. We weren’t sure what to do about it. We asked the clerk at the Information Centre if she could find a Mazda dealer nearby. She looked it and found it for us. I like Information centers that are so courteous. Worthwhile to visit!See more..

There is a gazebo that allows you to relax and view the West Branch of the Ausable River. There is a short trail that leads to the water. Look for the blue heron.
