4.5Brooklyn Public Library Central Branch(273 reviews) - Terrific Testament to the Power of the Written Word and the sharing of it! Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Libraries
Standing in this building is to behold the power of the word, and those who've put pen to paper, and those who preserve and share it. each chiseled panel on the building's exterior speaks of incredible truths. important to remember during these difficult times of cancelling cultures, books and libraries.See more..
Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library is beautiful both inside and out. Two majestic lions greet patrons and visitors at the front entrance. The building is beautiful on the outside; however, once one steps through the doors it will take your breath away. The entrance is very grand from the stained glass and detailed ceiling to the beautiful marble floors and figures. I didn't know what to look at first. It looks more like a museum than a library until one enters past the circulation desk. There is a welcoming children's section, computers and all the other areas one would expect in a typical library. Upstairs there is a complete history section where one may explore and read about the history of many towns and cities in the area.See more..
4.5Schenectady County Public Library(55 reviews) - Interesting place, excellent art outside, all the bells and whistles inside Libraries
We were catching a train in Schenectady but were early, so I had some time to explore the old town near the station. The library's core is solid 60's / 70's architecture, with a modern addition. Walking through the library you realized it offers a great service, lots of people were making use of the holdings, but it was still open and spacious. I spotted an interesting statue outside, and learned that it was of William Seward and Harriet Tubman. I didn't know that fellow who made the Alaska purchase possible (and for whom Seward Alaska is named), was a staunch Abolitionist and helped Harriet and the Underground Railway directly. Bravo Schenectady County Public Library!See more..

On September 3rd, 2011 "The Book Booth: America's littlest library" opened in Clinton Corners, NY - A refurbished 1960s 3'x3'x8'4" British Phone Booth that houses 150 used books, 2 thin visitors at a time, uses no electricity, no plumbing and with a motion sensor light that is powered by a tiny solar panel on the roof... everything about this mini library is green, except the color. Thanks to David & Jeanie Bean who have loaned their phone box to the local library. It is an official branch of the Clinton Community Library, Friends of Library maintain the booth year round. The Red English Phone Box is genuine! Though, not the traditional kind often seen in movies and in England, this is a K-8 model. Industrial Designer Bruce Martin vision for the tradional Red Phone Box won and it his design that was used during the 1960s. 11,000 were produced and as of 2011, only 12 are still in use today in UK. We'd like to add to that number and think that 13 are in perfect working order...though, not used in its true intention, the Book Booth certainly works hard at keeping people connected by way of the written word.In fact, if you plan on making a visit, try to bring a book to "readcycle" as the loose policy is 'take a book/leave a book'. If you don't have a book to share, please feel free to take one anyways and remember to pass it on to someone else. Childrens books are located in the baskets on the floor so the little ones can rummage through whilst Mom & Dad look at the bounty on the shelves.See more..
5.0Claverack Free Library(1 review) - Small Space with Big Services Wednesday: 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Libraries
It's remarkable how much activity goes on in this small library and how expertly the staff pinpoints reading needs with a good suggestion and how quick they are to help people struggling with computers, etc. The library is working to renovate the old firehouse next door for a bigger space. A great little library.See more..

5.0Schoharie Free Library(1 review) - Library rooms from the 1800's Libraries This library is contained in a house built in the 1800's! When you enter and go to the right, the rooms straight ahead and to the right look like something like right out of an old time parlor. The furniture in these areas looks like it matches the 1800's timeframe as well. The books in these rooms are stored on true bookcases that were built into the house. Venture upstairs and the books are in small rooms. The wood floor creaks. It is so quaint. There is also an old time elevator. Would be neat to work there and feel like you are living in another century.See more..
5.0North Tonawanda Public Library(1 review) - Choices are amazing Libraries This library has a wonderful selection of media. It offers a large choice of young adult reading materials, magazines, children's, biography, manga, graphic novels, DVD's and Blu ray's. I go here when I want to find something different to watch or when searching for a unique biography to read.....there selection really is better than a lot of other libraries in the area. They also offer great classes taught by informed teachers like their genealogy classes. They have the usual assortment of fiction and non fiction but it seems they get the newest books in first. They carry many older TV shows on DVD and categorize their movies into genre which I like. Looking for a comedy....they make it easy. Easy parking, self check out, clean restrooms, reference librarians with all the answers, a large area of computers to use, sitting areas (I especially like to chill in the young adult section)....so much to offer. Spend the day hanging out and take advantage of all the wonderful things available.See more..
