Park has a great walking/run trail that circles the lake. Boats are available to take a relaxing paddle out or to enjoy quiet fishing time. The playground has many fun things to keep the kiddies entertained. Basketball and a place to skate too. There are even organized moon hikes each month which are a great way to meet new people and are a lot of fun. See more..

    Day Road Park image
I always enjoy walking in the park even in the winter! The new rules for no bikes or rollerblades or skateboards are sad. I have never been bothered by any of them. They have all been respectful. Often neighborhoods do not have a place to do those activities With Covid and being cooped up so long, give them a break! Soon strollers will be banned I miss one young man who often rode his bike alone. Was pleasant and careful. I know there are always people who ruin it for others but this is summer See more..

  9. 4.0 Island Park (5 reviews)
    - A perfect place for a picnic or stroll
    Spent < 1 hour Parks • Playgrounds
Tucked away behind the Village Hall the park is really an island with Elliott creek running around it. Picnic tables, a covered pavilion offer a spot to enjoy the park. Kids fishing along the creek might catch a big one (8 inches). Many small events are booked there through the summer. Cross Main street and venture to the other waterfall park and nature walk. 10. 4.5 Collins Park (4 reviews)
    - Perfect small town park
Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks • Playgrounds
    Collins Park image
Scotia is a small town and Collins Park is the hub of activity. During this time of year there is a great hill for sleigh riding, but it's spring, summer and fall that this place really comes alive. It's got a nice path for walking or riding bikes. All tree lined with lots of shade all over. There are basketball courts that see people of all ages playing hoops for the warmer months. There are tennis and pickleball courts. How many towns have pickleball courts? The new Splash Pad put in by the Lions Club keeps the kids cool all summer after playing for hours on end at the wonderful playground not far away. Too many balls fields and open grass areas to count. Games going on all summer means there is always something to watch or do. The lake (although not swimable now) is a great back drop and you can still play on the beach, go fishing or go boating. All this with great proximity to jumping jacks, water ski shows and music all summer long (all across the street). See more..

  13. 4.0 Prospect Park (2 reviews)
    - LARGE CITY PARK WITH RECREATIONAL AREAS, CITY OVERLOOK, & AN UNCLE SAM MEMORIAL
Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Hiking Trails • Playgrounds
    Prospect Park image
Prospect Park Is a hilly 80-acre city park with several different sections that include a playground for younger children, 14 tennis courts, other ball facilities, picnic areas, a nature hiking trail, and the Uncle Sam Memorial Pavilion with a bench and at an overlook with commanding views of Troy below. With a variety of trees, it’s something of an arboretum as well. With white flowering trees in full bloom at the time of my visit, the park was very scenic. There are paved roads through the park so one can take a driving tour. There are restrooms near the pavilion. At the time of my visit, the women’s restrooms were out of order. I especially enjoyed the Uncle Sam Memorial commemorating Samuel Wilson, who owned this land. It was an open gazebo. There was a plaque about Uncle Sam. Inside the gazebo were panels with patriotic words inscribed ~ Honesty, Justice, Republic, Independence, Freedom, and Faith. There were two empty places where panels had been. They either fell down or were stolen. It’s likely that Honor was one of them and maybe Patriotism or Loyalty was the other. At the Uncle Sam Memorial, I met a very nice young couple from Troy who planned to get married in the fall. It was great to get acquainted with some local residents on a social level. For its size, beauty, overlook to Troy, and everything else it had to offer, I rate Prospect Park at 5.0. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..

  15. 3.0 Burns-Whitney Pocket Park (1 review)
    - NICE NEIGHBORHOOD POCKET PARK WITH A PLAYGROUND
    Parks • Playgrounds
There are about a dozen small residential neighborhood pocket parks in Colonie. This one was fairly close to the La Quinta I stayed at and DinerTime where I had lunch ~ about 2 miles from both. It conveniently located not far off US Route 7, the Troy-Schenectady Road. It was a good place to walk around to help burn off lunch. It’s a great park for children as there is a lot of playground equipment for sliding and climbing. There’s a good amount of space for walking around. For what it is, I rate Burns Whitney Pocket Park at 3.50. It’s a worth a visit for a family with younger children or for someone who just wants to walk around. - Little Neighborhood Park
    Parks • Playgrounds
Rogers Avenue Park is a small neighborhood park with a pavilion, playground, and basketball court with bathrooms available for sanctioned events. There use to be a cement swimming pool about 2 feet deep for years, which we played in every summer in the late 1950's and early 1960's when we came to visit my grandparents, who lived across the street.
