Sound of Music is my favorite musical and I was so excited to have this be my first experience at the Glimmerglass Opera house because the show was amazing. The acting was fantastic and everyone's voice was phenomenal.
They have a cute little gift shop along with food and beverages to purchase. Nice selection of quick bites and local beers and wine.
Mask wearing was mandatory but I had no issue with that. The performers are at least owed that.
Well worth the experience and hope to attend many more times.

Hudson Hall offers a year-round schedule of arts and cultural programming in the 1855 former Hudson City Hall which contains New York State’s oldest surviving theatre. Since opening the first restored room in December of 1997, five rooms on the first floor and our magnificent upstairs performance hall have been rehabilitated, and we have presented thousands of cultural and educational programs. Hudson Hall provides free or low-cost cultural offerings every week of the year. Ongoing programs include concerts, readings, lectures, exhibitions, theater and dance presentations, after-school programs, workshops, classes, and large-scale community arts events like Winter Walk, which celebrated its 21st year in 2017. 5. 5.0 Hudson Opera Theatre (3 reviews)
    - Real, classic opera at bargain prices

We were very agreeably surprised by the quality of this regional opera company, which performs classic operas with full orchestration, costumes and staging for less than $40 per ticket. The singers and orchestra are mainly from the NYC metropolitan area, and they are really excellent. There are different performances every couple of months. This is grand opera, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby to "make an evening of it." We will be going back! See more..
  6. 2.5 Lewiston Opera House (2 reviews)
    - Local author reading, Catherine Gildiner
    Operas
Lewiston is a fantastic town! We met a local woman, Evelyn, at the Stone House bar. She was so excited because she had just made travel plans to Paris and Rome. We were with friends on our way to a wedding on Michigan. Evelyn told us about this reading at the Opera House. She was going to meet her husband there, he was in a band that was going to play a set of songs before the reading. The Opera House was a lot of fun. They served snacks for a donation -- pizza, cookies, wine, cider, brownies. I didn't t catch the name of the band, but I did dance to one of the songs. We bought Catherine's book, and she autographed it. She spoke for about 20 minutes. This is her third book, and she led an interesting life in Lewiston as a child, and then her adult adventures...including signing up with the Black Panthers, well, you'll have to buy her books!, See more..
