First time taking Amtrak to visit my folks, and loved it. I got on at Back Bay Station in Boston and took the train to Syracuse. The train stops in Albany to meet up with the NYC train and connect the two. This gives the rider about an hour or so to get off the train and stretch your legs. Plenty of legroom onboard in Coach and the seats are very comfortable. Each seat reclines and has a footrest that flips up and there is another footrest that folds down in front of you. Loved the ride, great service and so easy to get to Syracuse. I could see using Amtrak again to visit my folks! See more..

Made a short visit of the new Amtrack station's interior. I found it to be impressive and a nice place to visit or wait for a train. When I stopped in there were no other people in the place. See more..
  4. 5.0 Salamanca Rail Museum (1 review)
    - Worth stopping at!

A beautifully restored passenger depot is the highlight. Talking to Jaré Cardinal, director of the Salamanca Rail Museum, was a close second. The pictures and artifacts, as well as some old train cars outside, were very nice as well. The stories and information she told us was very interesting. She told us of some grand plans they have in the works and we certainly hope they come true. Other than a donation, the museum is free. Definitely worth a stop. See more..
