The Nautical Mile seemed oddly haunted and dilapidated but I still loved it. Grabbed some crab cakes and crawfish salad and crab at Two Cousins. Would maybe go back to Two Cousins for seafood salad, shrimp salad and lobster salad another time. The fish didn’t appeal to me. The Tuna looked questionable. Ottos down the road looked wildly interesting.See more..
4.5Feeder Canal Trail(50 reviews) - Walk with our dog while visiting Historic Walking Areas
Feeder canal trail popped up on your sight and we needed a walk after driving all day. This is a great little trail, well maintained, clean, flat and easy to walk. There is a nice little swimming hole on the Feeder Canal and the trail leads to a city park with a great sandy beach on the Hudson a river. My only regret was to not have a swim suit with so we could enjoy the water. See more..

4.5Albany Rural Cemetery(21 reviews) - Large cemetery in the NY Capital Spent 1-2 hours Historic Walking Areas • Cemeteries • Scenic Walking Areas
I was struck by how large this cemetery is. There are some immaculate headstones and crypts throughout the acres. There were many areas that clearly haven't been maintained with excessive foliage and plant growth. However, President Arthur's grave area was freshly mowed. You can definitely be here for hours walking around.See more..
5.0Mesier Homestead and Museum(4 reviews) - Beautiful home decorated for a Revolutionary era Christmas Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
I love visiting the Mesier Homestead at the holidays. The home is so beautifully decorated with garland and ribbons and the whole house smells of pine and oranges. The Dining Room is decked out with the table decorated for an elegant Christmas dinner with fine china and party favors on the table. The Living Room is done with garland and holly on the door archways and tables. The main hallway is done with garland all around the doors. It really does put you in the Christmas spirit. Only the first floor is open so that you get to wonder the rooms and really enjoy the decorations. Don't forget to visit their gift shop. There are many interesting things to buy there.See more..
4.0Culver Hill Historic Park(1 review) - A small pulloff to commemorate the heroes of the War of 1812 Spent < 1 hour Historic Walking Areas • Parks When the British tried to capture Plattsburgh, New York during the Battle of 1812, there were various skirmishes with the county militia who tried to slow the advance of the British to give Plattsburgh more time to arrange for its defense. Near the top of Culver Hill, you get a long view down Route 22, which was the route the British marched on their way, giving you a good overview of the terrain. There is a small monument commemorating those who fought and died, a nicely landscaped lawn area to walk and two or three benches where you can pause and reflect on those who helped secure our freedom from the British. Across the street, behind a neat stone wall, is a home that presumably stood during the battle. Not a major attraction, but a nice place to pause and reflect and commemorate for a few minutes or longer.See more..
