Their son, Norman Greig, began farming in 1975 and gradually added blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, pumpkins and other crops to the farm. We have always felt a responsibility to provide our community with a welcoming space and sustainably-grown, healthy produce. Our 1850s dairy barn was once home to seventy cows and today it is home to our farm market & cafe, a local craft market, and an art gallery. Our home is your home, and we look forward to the next 70 years in the Hudson Valley. See more..
  12. 4.0 The Shirt Factory (43 reviews)

The Shirt Factory was built in 1902 for the McMullen-Leavens Company as a shirt factory, the building was expanded in 1910 as production increased. In the 1930's the product line expanded into dress manufacturing. The shirt and dresses produced here were high quality fashion featured on the pages of publications like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Production continued here through 1996 when the factory closed its doors. In 1999 the current owner began a slow process of rehabilitating the building and breaking it up into rentable studio space. Over the years the space has grown and evolved. Visitors will find an eclectic mix of individuals calling the 70 plus studios here home, offering a wide range of goods, services, classes and more. The building is open daily 8am-5pm, individual studios set their own hours/availability, please check our website for studio hours. While here you will notice machines in the halls and dresses and shirts displayed in cases, these are from the original factory that operated here, for which the building is named. The first floor is our "designated retail area" all studios on this floor are open on Thur-Sat from 12pm-5pm, many studios on the other floors are also open at this time, making these ideal days to visit the building! 15. 5.0 Jack Shainman Gallery: The School (19 reviews)
    - You’d think you were in Chelsea
    Spent 1-2 hours Art Galleries
Jack Shainman Gallery: The School image
The Schoolhouse is one of those rare endeavors that is likely perfect and in a very unlikely space. Jack Shainman has taken a former Colonial Revival schoolhouse and restored it into the perfect New York City gallery space, except that it’s in a twee Hudson Valley village better known for Federal architecture than contemporary art. The interior has been perfectly painted with white walls and pale grey floors. A few of the rooms upstairs have been left in unrestored condition and the whole is just perfect. The exhibition openings are free and open to the public and quite a scene. You just have to book the opening tickets online in advance. If you find yourself upstate and are getting a little tired of nature and antiques, this is the perfect antidote. Go! See more..

  17. 4.5 Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center (15 reviews)
    - Beautiful park trails with the added benefit of art
    Art Galleries • Parks
Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center image
The trails are beautiful. There's art by Burchfield that's relevant to where you are with explanations. The trails also touch on the Buffalo Creek, which is nice for wading on a hot day. Dogs are welcome and we petted a few friendly ones. There's a nice playground for little ones, and the bathroom facilities were clean. The art museum is a nice added benefit too. I kept noticing teens and tweens with their heads buried in their phones and found out this is a very popular place for Pokemon Go players. I guess it's nice that they're getting out, but it's a shame they don't notice the beauty of where they are. See more..

We were camping in the area and decided to go for a walk on the nature trail. Especially liked the audio tour on my phone. The gal gives some information about what you’re seeing and the 3 kinds of wetland terrain. It took us 45 minutes to get around and the trails is very good for kids and strollers. There are information stops along the way that go along with the audio tour. You’re in the shade most of the way. Should have left the sunscreen off and put on bug repellent! We did not get eaten up though. See more..

Whimsical interesting pieces welded together to form garden or yard sculpture. This art form has become more prolific lately but it seems Bijan has been doing this for decades. Art Galleries
    GARNER Arts Center image
On Saturday evening my wife and I and another couple went to Garner Arts Center to see the film "Paterson", n=much of which was filmed at the Garnerville Arts and Industrial Center in which the Garner Arts Center is located. Every time a scene came onscreen which showed the Garnerville setting, the crowd, which numbered about 200 people, cheered wildly. Beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, were available before, during and after the film, and a panel discussion about the movie was presented after the showing. Seeing this modern film in a building which was built way before movies, or even photography, was invented, really put things in perspective for me. This was yet another unusual arts program hosted by this small town arts center with big city exhibits and programs. Check it our for yourself. See more..

One of the few shops still around in Sugar Loaf on a late Oct weekday. If you need some wall decorations or photo gifts, this is the place. Down a bit from the main store area, it's well kept. After visiting a local brew pub in a nearby town, this was a nice change from the closed and "for rent" signs of Sugar Loaf. Even the main restaurant had closed. We were here some 6 years ago, much has changed. It is late Oct. so we'll have to come back during the summer when hitting the areas winery again or their outdoor craft show. See more..

BAU is a great gallery. The artwork that is on display is always changing. They highlight local artist and have such talented work. It is located close to the brewery and has great restaurant options near by. The opening receptions are always on Second Saturday. You can meet the artists and talk about the work. See more..
