Wonderful place. Wish it was here when we lived here. The park spans both sides of the river. With plaques, statues and other wonderful pieces of art. The smaller park on the Southside crosses over the the larger park, with swings and a piece of art with parts from the 911 Towers, with beautiful words on the people who lost their lives. A great walkway over the tracks to the downtown area. If you are up to a short walk once on the other side, you have the recently (ok not real recent) Kirk Douglas park on the backside of downtown. While parts of Amsterdam are still pretty rough, it's nice to see improvements happening pretty regularly.See more..

The Blue Line Brewery is a new start-up in Saranac Lake and it is just what this town needs. Mark, the owner and brewer was great to talk to and very knowledgable about his brews. The sampling room was informal but a welcoming atmosphere. You can learn all about the brews on tap and have samples at no charge (so far). You can also purchase a growler of your favorite. Mine was the Black Fly IPA (what an Adirondack name). My wife enjoyed the 6er Ale. If you don't know what a 6er is, just ask. Good beer is now available in Saranac Lake! There are a number of restaurants in and around the Blue Line that are carrying these beers now. One more reason to love a trip to the Adirondacks.See more..

We stopped at Eddie's on our way to Crystal Springs for a weekend wedding. So glad we did!! Cute town and Eddie's was the perfect place for a snack. The sandwich we ordered was very large with a lot of meat. (We split a sandwich.) The flavor was excellent. We also enjoyed the frys that came with the sandwich. The wait staff was great - so personable and proficient. We spoke to the cook. Fun guy but we questioned his choice of attire - U of M hat!! Lol. (I went to school in Columbus, OH.) Of course, he enjoyed our good natured ribbing and gave us fun replies re: our fun ribbing about his excellent cooking in spite of his headwear. We will most certainly return if in the area. Copperfields hit a homerun during COVID. They offered easy curbside pickup. They offered many awesome drinks, some specials and a full menu. We would order meals for the entire family and cocktails for the parents. It became a weekly treat for us during the COVID crisis. Ordering and pick-up were easy and safe! When I first walked in for dinner, it was a little - uh, scary!! It's basically a bar filled with locals drinking and knocking back a few cold ones. We were clearly NOT locals. There is a room behind the bar with tables for dining. I was a little concerned about the quality of the food, given the "ambiance", but the food was REALLY good! I had the Chicken Caesar wrap and it was excellent. Do not the let the initial appearance fool you. This local bar / Restaurant has been a favorite stop of our since 2013. We have had outstanding service & awesome food every time. I am a Burger fanatic and these are in the top 5 of any place I have ever eaten. The server was so friendly and welcomed us in. We were pleasantly surprised to meet a big 'ol black lab named Leroy. He and our girl became fast friends and we chatted with some of the locals. I go to Forty-One every Sunday with the family to watch football, eat delicious food, and drink! We have been coming here for years and there isn't a better place in the Troy area to watch the games. We used to sit in the bar area where there are over 10 TVs, all with each game on. Now, since my nephew is young and likes to run around and play football while he watches it, we sit in the dining room, where they also have TVs and a more restaurant-atmosphere. The wings are superb and they often have special flavors that are always good! The staff is super friendly and remember us each week, even what we like to drink! Everything is reasonably priced and I would recommend Forty-One to anyone of all ages. They even have a childrens menu!See more..
