The staff at SOC was awesome! They went above and beyond from the moment I called Jessica to book the trip, to the moment we got off the boat with our guide, Liam. Jessica not only guided me to the best time of day to book, she also found out about my groups’ interests and booked us a guide that had similar interests. The rafting itself with our guide, Liam, was so fun! He was very professional yet fun. We stopped to have a water gun fight and to swim. We learned about the different categories of rapids and a little history about the area. Liam recommended running trails for the boys (all cross country runners), great local restaurants and fun local activities. This was the best rafting experience we’ve had. I thought the paddle led by Storm King Adventure Tours from Cornwall to Bannerman was awesome! It got very windy which made it quite challenging, which I didn’t mind at all, but I felt badly for inexperienced paddlers. However, the guides were very capable in making sure everyone was safe. The tour guide on the island was very knowledgeable and informative. I enjoyed going in the old residence/museum and seeing original pictures and artifacts. The gardens were lovely, though with this awfully dry summer they were not at their best.See more..

We tried the Sunset Kayak Tour from Newburgh, NY. Our guide Colin was great. We were a family of 4 brand new kayakers, with 8 total kayakers in our tour group. Colin explained how to row/steer and checked all our gear before we set out on the water. My sister tipped over within minutes of leaving the pier, and ended up in the Hudson River. Colin was great and helped her get back to the pier and into her kayak, calmly and safely. It was smooth sailing from there. The views are gorgeous! I can't wait to try one of their other tours from their 3 total departure points. They suggest that you bring a change of clothing and shoes, which came in handy. Here are no lockers or anything, so bring only what you feel comfortable leaving in your car. Colin secured our car keys, so no worry about them getting wet. See more..

We stayed at Tall Pines as a family of six (kids are 5-15) for an extended stay and had a wonderful time. The park fields in on weekends, but instead of with loud rough weekenders, nice families that are here to enjoy the beauty of the Unadilla river. We had a full hookup site near a big field with fantastic grass. (Great for lawn games or a nerf war). Some sites have concrete patio slabs, but we were in an all grass site across from the river. The pool isn’t huge but it’s extremely clean, and beautifully landscaped. They have a good sized game room and easy river access. We’ve come before (we come every 2 years or so) and have had great spots each time. Covid has limited the store hours (they carry some really cute items), but added more outdoor activities. (‘Town’ is only a few minutes away if you need supplies). They offer some themed food nights, an ice cream cart and craft wagon. Our kids loved the playground and putt putt. Took the 1.5 hour tubing trip for $25. You could go faster if the water level was higher or if you didn't stop at all. A van with a trailer takes you and a tube upstream and you float downstream to the approximate starting point. Wear water shoes and bathing suits. Pack a snack and drinks. I only gave this place 4 stars because of the lack of a good bathroom and changing facility. There are port a potties and a 1 person "changing room" sandwiched between the port a johns. See more..

My three teenage daughters and I just spent a magnificent day on Delta Lake paddling kayaks rented from At Water's Edge. Randy had everything covered. I was able to make all the arrangements with him through email just a few days in advance of when we wanted to go. That way we could see the weather forecast and set it up for a good day. He answered all my emails quickly and cordially. When we arrived at the lake, he was already there to deliver the four kayaks. He helped us get them into the water and explained all the safety tips. Life vests with emergency whistles were included with each boat. Then, promptly at the time I had requested, Randy was there to pick up the kayaks, although he said if we wanted to stay longer all we had to do was call him. We just paddled to shore and hopped out. He put the boats on the trailer. I don't think kayaking gets any more convenient than that! They were good clean boats and we had a terrific time exploring and enjoying nature. He also offers kayak day trips and rentals at other locations in Central NY and in the Adirondacks.See more..
