Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory image
The Adirondack night sky, the wilderness above, is simply spectacular! It is here that something unique is being created: the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory. Formerly the Adirondack Public Observatory, the Sky Center has evolved into a regionally recognized center for the observation of the cosmos, and has been providing quality experiences for people of all ages through astronomy. The Board is running a fundraising campaign to allow us to establish a three-building permanent facility. In 2013, we completed the first step: the Roll-off Roof Observatory, at 178 Big Wolf Road, open as weather and staffing permit for stargazing. We also currently have an office, Gift Shop, and Classroom open daily from 10-5 at 36 High Street. Today, that journey continues. Construction has begun on a $15 million, 17,000 square foot AstroScience Center, estimated to take five years from ground clearing to completion. Please join us! See more..

Located close to the NY/PA border, the drive out to the Kopernik takes you through the beautiful hills of South Vestal. The Kopernik offers a wide array of day and evening activities. I attended a fascinating program on life in outer space by an expert professor from Cornell who is part of the Europa Clipper satellite concept development team. Tip: the $40 membership also gets you free admission to other national museums. See more..
