Rockland Bakery is one of my favorite memories of my childhood. The hot bagels coming off the assembly line are EXCELLENT. Some of the best bagels in NY. A few years ago, my friend overnighted a package of challah bread, bagels, bread, bakery goods from Rockland Bakery. My family and I were in heaven. You can't find bread and bakery products of such quality in Alabama . The closest thing Alabama has to a bakery is Edgar's (or what I refer to as sugar on steroids + lard)... horrible. Now I see that I can order online from Rockland Bakery so my dream has come true. I'm in the middle of placing an online order right now. I recommend the bagels, macaroon cookies, challah bread (absolutely to die for) but everything they make is incredible and the best you'll ever eat. About 1 mile on rt 7 west out of Bainbridge, on the right, this place is a must stop. Produce, is shipped in for now, (local growing season), but the prices are great. I was impressed with their expansion(?) of fresh potted herbs. If you want to snip-and-grow fresh herbs at home, this is the place to go now. You can buy young chickens and turkeys, if you want. If you are in the area a stop in this working farm is a great time. Products are primarily sheep based milk and cheeses(some have cow's milk also) and are outstanding. With consideration to the environment this farm grows the winter feed for the animals and allows them to free range graze during the summer months. When animals come in from pasture they are penned and to someone from the city this could look like overcrowding but it is not. The babies are weened off their mothers as soon as possible in order to increase milk production, after all it is still a business. The cheese production facility is immaculate and rooms are all computer controlled in order to produce great products. The yogurt and Camembert were my 2 favorites on the visit but everything was really good.See more..
