Steve is a great guide!
What a great experience! Our instructor was Steve (Stevie Nips) He was the most experienced and knowledgeable guide, we were glad to be with him for our first experience, we felt safe. He also had good knowledge of the area and it's history along with many sarcastic jokes lol. ADK River Outfitters did a great job with this excursion from start to finish. The photos they take are a great addition. My only suggestion would be to have a photographer go down the river once (without people) and take the majestic photos that cannot be taken any other way and have them available for purchase as well. Thank you ADK River outfitters for the great new family memory, and special thank you Steve!

From freaky to fun
This was my first white water rafting experience. Myself and several friends ran the Hudson during a dry spell in August. I was a bit anxious before we arrived because of some scary stories I had heard of rafting. I love the outdoors and summer and winter sports but I had held off on white water. I felt instant relief when we pulled in and kind of silly. They have such a nice set up and they really have your back the whole day, it's really well organized. They take care of you from signing you in when you arrive, an area to change clothes, to giving you safety instructions and asking you and your raft mates what kind of 'ride' you would like. We had Trevor, BIG SHOUT OUT TO TREVOR, he was awesome. He had lots of experience and really made us all feel at ease to have a fun time. Lunch was supplied half way through the trip (tortilla wrap-PB/choco chips/honey bunches of oats and fruit snacks) we also got snacks later in the trip. We had times to jump out and swim/float which was amazing. We did have 2 in our group that fell out of the raft, but Trevor and us raft mates (with our prior training) were able to grab them so fast that they hardly stayed in the water. So just know if you do fall in, sit next to people with long arms : ). Overall an amazing experience, I'm ready to go to the Black river with ARO.

Great day out on the Hudson
I spent a delightful 6 hours whitewater rafting on the Hudson, having made a solo reservation. There were 5 in our raft, including the guide Cody. He was engaging, skilful, and experienced, full of interesting stories and information throughout the trip. The trip was a neat combination of several sections of rapids, separated by reaches of river that were beautiful and remote from roads and other development. Overall, an excellent day!
