What a great experience! Our instructor was Steve (Stevie Nips) He was the most experienced and knowledgeable guide, we were glad to be with him for our first experience, we felt safe. He also had good knowledge of the area and it's history along with many sarcastic jokes lol. ADK River Outfitters did a great job with this excursion from start to finish. The photos they take are a great addition. My only suggestion would be to have a photographer go down the river once (without people) and take the majestic photos that cannot be taken any other way and have them available for purchase as well. Great, semi easy hike where stunning views of quite a few ADK lakes await at the top. We didn’t climb the fire tower and chose to sit on the rock face at the top instead to admire the scenery. There are always people hiking up and down so you never feel isolated and help is nearby. Dogs welcome and abundant. The only caveat is there is a lot of rock face on this hike so having shoes that grip is probably helpful. Some of the rock is very worn and pointed like a triangle in places. There are walkarounds but not in some areas where it can get tricky. Parking could be better on busy weekends. Porta potties at the bottom entrance. See more..

I always stop to see a few shows at the Strand when vacationing in Old Forge. Early in the week my wife and I saw a movie and decided later in the week to go to the Leon Etienne magic show. The show was amazing and was like going to a show in Las Vegas. Leon has performed all over the world and he has been doing shows throughout the summer in Old Forge. The owners Bob and Helen are real nice and will thank you for visiting their theater at the end of the show. See more..

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the farm. Anne’s passion and love for her animals was infectious. We had a family group of 7 people (teens & parents) and we haven’t stopped talking about what an amazing experience it was. The Town of Webb Historical Association is the home of the Goodsell Museum. We are located in a turn of the century house, which also has a barn and ice house to visit. The Museum have six room which display items showing the history of this area. Most of these exhibits change yearly. On the main floor we have an exhibit of technology as it came to the area. Another room is dedicated to taxidermy. Upstairs is a doctor's office, ca 1950's, a room telling the story of the previous owners, and two other rotating exhibits. See more..

We booked a guided hike through Viator and drove to NY from VA for the experience. When I contacted Grasse River Adventures to confirm the day before the scheduled hike. I was told that there was no record of the hike and that it couldn’t be scheduled. The owner, personally, handled the issue with impeccable professionalism. Mr. Burnham secured me a guided tour with another company and compensated me for the change. He followed up to make sure I was able to give the first time hike experience on the day scheduled. A welcome surprise in Old Forge, a beautiful, new gym. Everything is clean and new. Hours of operation are rather odd 9a-1p on the weekends. It's a rather expensive way to work out for 3 months. Went with another local outfit years past that I really enjoyed so I wasn’t sure how different WWC was going to be! I am glad we booked with these guys our guide Brian was hilarious throughout the whole trip. We were able to hit some white water that we didn’t even see with the other company. If your looking for a good time on the black river you need to book with these guys! You are guaranteed to get wet! They even have some stops where you can do some diving and swimming.
