- 5.0 Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (86 reviews)
-Unbelievably Gorgeous Temple
Religious Sites
This is legitimately a top tourist attraction too for anybody visiting Houston. I was so impressed to see something so large and beautiful that seemed it belonged in India or Middle East with its architecture and natural beauty. We were surprised to learn this existed but after being recommended, we took a trip and we’re shocked to see the largest Hindu temple in North America built solely by volunteers!! The place is also staffed with volunteers who can guide you and direct you to the cool spots of temple. I also liked that although there were other visitors, it is so large that we did not feel on top of others. The temple also includes a general purpose hall and the Shayona vegetarian cafe as well as a store selling vegetarian sweets and snacks!! See more..

- 5.0 Caddo Outback (82 reviews)
-Beautiful Caddo Lake

John Winn is the best of the best on Caddo Lake. My husband and I rented his kayaks and stayed on his land during our stay at Caddo, and it was a dream. John made everything so easy: he is kind and incredibly generous, and knows the lake like no other. We saw blue herons and egrets on Caddo, and John told us where to go to find the most picturesque spots - his land is right off some of the most beautiful spots on the lake. Thank you, John. We can't wait to come back to Caddo and see you again soon!! See more..

-Great Insight into a Remote and Unique Nat'l Park
Private Tours
Chris gave us a great tour and spent a night in his front yard with our motorhome. We had a great time and learned a lot about Big Bend Nat'l Park, history and geology. We would recommend future Big Bend travelers go when they have had some rain. The desert is much more beautiful with a little color. Chris gave us a six hour tour during which he led us to great vistas and pointed out great features of the rock structures that have developed that we would have never found on our own. It is a long drive but a very unique place on our Southern border. See more..

- 5.0 El Camino Del Rio (75 reviews)
-Had no idea it’d be THIS pretty!
Spent 2-3 hours Scenic Drives
Lived in TX for 28 years before moving and had never been to this part of the state. I read this drive was pretty from other reviews but I seriously had no idea Big Bend Ranch State Park was THIS pretty. The road itself was a fun drive of hills, twists and turns as you wind through canyons, sprawling landscapes and down to the river. Lots of great spots for a snack or lunch along the way if you planned ahead. Not much going on in Presidio so we opted to wait until Marfa for lunch (we were heading to El Paso). If we were going the other direction we would’ve stopped for lunch in Lajitas. If we had more time I would recommend hiking Closed Canyon or Hoodoos and then packing by a lunch and stopping at one of the pullouts along the river - so peaceful! See more..

Arriving at the visitor center we were greeted by John, our guide and immediately felt comfortable and welcome. We spent a few minutes at the center looking at pictures of the raging water overflowing the spillway and began to get a sense of how powerful this event was. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hour gorge tour and John's knowledge and passion for geology. We learned so much and highly recommend taking the guided tour so you can go down into the gorge to find and touch fossils. It also allows you to see just how much was washed away in the overflow. The gorge is a treasure, and taking the tour was time well spent. See more..

- 5.0 Skydive Spaceland San Marcos (69 reviews)
-First experience in Sky diving
Sunday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM Adrenaline & Extreme Tours
Sky diving has been on my to-do list for a long time, so when I came across Skydive Spaceland while at Austin, I decided to go for it. Honestly, signing the waiver form was the scariest thing in the whole experience. Once I reached the facility, the staff was courteous and friendly. The instructions were clear and it was obvious that they had got this down to a science and were 110% confident on how to go about it. My tandem instructor was Phillip and he is an experienced diver with nearly 2000 dives in his belt. He was patient in allaying any fears I had and meticulous in the procedure to clamp up and be secure. From the time you are strapped up, you are in the care of the instructor and in safe hands. The experience of jumping out of the plane at 14000 ft was at the same time terrifying and exhilirating! I would highly recommend Skydive Spaceland for their first (and subsequent) sky dives. The bonus? You are put on track for obtaining a skydive license!! See more..

- 5.0 Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle (64 reviews)
-A Great Affection for Jesus and Mary in Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle
Sunday: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
It was my first visit to San Juan as I had always desired to go and pray there. I could see in the pilgrims attending Mass that they are some of the most devout Catholics. I absolutely loved the Mass when they had musicians playing and singing in the style of the Hispanic people. I also attended a Mariachi concert there one evening that was so nice. In the Basilica there is a Eucharistic Adoration room, a Room of Candles to offer for special intentions and the Room of Miracles to pray in front of about 16 different Statues of different Saints and Jesus and Mary, to ask for Their Intercession. On the outside is the Way of the Cross with life-size bronze statues depicting each station. I noticed several times different pilgrims embracing Jesus and Mary so as to comfort Jesus and Mary on this painful road to Calvary which was quite touching to see and experience this feeling of affection they have. It was a most meaningful trip for me to begin this year. Gracias ! See more..

- 5.0 Touch of Chrome Trail Rides (59 reviews)
-Excellent nature experience
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
The ride was amazing and its truly beautiful out there. I got this as a gift for my fiance for her birthday and she has not stopped talking about it since and has been telling everyone how much fun she had. Our horses treat and diamond were amazing, they're very well tempered and gentle for two people that haven't ridden in awhile. I recommend this for anyone just trying to get out and be in nature. We saw multiple types of wildlife from cardinals to deer running around. Definitely recommend the two hour because the one hour is not going to be enough, right when you get used to your horse and start having fun you would be going back. Our guide made sure we moved at our own pace when it came to the ride and reminded us what to do when we were doing anything outside of walking to make sure everyone made it back safe and had fun. I will definitely be doing this with my fiance again in the near future. See more..
- 5.0 Texas Country Music Hall of Fame & the Tex Ritter Museum (58 reviews)
-What a great place
Speciality Museums
This felt like a very peaceful place that is a capsule into country music history. Actual clothing these musicians wore are on display and autographed guitars. As well as items they once owned like baseball gloves or Tex Ritters horse saddles. All up close and personal, as if their telling their story only to you at that time you visit. It's a self guided tour. Be prepared to do a lot of reading if you want to fully enjoy this experience for 2 hours. Do your research on country music history around the 50s thru 90s before you visit because you will be lost if you don't. If you just run thru and look and don't read the exhibits, you will be out of there in 20 minutes wondering why you did not enjoy your experience. So go and stop and read the exhibits and it's disrespectful to do that to, to just give 2 or 3 seconds of your attention to an exhibit. Each exhibit tells a story, so read it or just don't show up. See more..

- 5.0 Texan Scuba Inc (57 reviews)
-From Student to Family
Sunday: Scuba & Snorkelling
My daughter and I signed up for the PADI open water diver class and the experience far exceeded my expectations!! To start off, Jim greeted us by name when we walked in (never met us before), then showed us to our sleeping accommodations. Our instructors were Brtan Blauvet and Conrad - two of the nicest and most patient people I've ever met. They made us feel at home both in the water and out of it. Then we got to meet the owners of Texan Scuba - Phil and Sharla. They made dinner for our class and made sure none of us were hungry after a long day in the water. Every single person we met while we were there was very engaging and willing to answer our endless questions. When I started the book portion of the class, PADI kept talikg about how much of a social community diving is...well, Texan Scuba embodies that philosophy. We walked in as students and left feeling like we had gained another family. Thank you all soooo much! ❤ See more..
