The two hour horseback ride at Big Bend Stables was outstanding! We had fantastic patient horses that were easy to control and were very confident in negotiating narrow rocky trails while ascending and descending out of arroyos and crossing stream beds! Our guides, George and Amelia were very friendly, very professional, and made you feel completely comfortable on the trails. We had a spectacular sunset and I got to take a lot of photos of it and the spectacular scenery along the trails. This was our second trip with Lajitas & Big Bend Stables and my wife and I Highly recommend George and Amelia and their horseback rides to any future riders in the Big Bend area!!See more..

I loved paddling out at sunset, the water is the prettiest, clear water to see! The boats were not only lit up, but see through, so you could see fish and everything underneath! Our tour guide Nate was wonderful. He was a geology major and was so insightful, gave us history of the river, river facts and tips on wildlife. I only wish I had brought some glow sticks for bracelets to jazz up my pictures. He even took great pictures for us. I loved it and would recommend to anyone!See more..

Amazing experience. I'd love to go back in late June or August when the young bats are flying with their mothers. I've wanted to go for years, but had not made the time. I was really missing out. The guide was very knowledgeable, the history was interesting, and of course, the bats inspired gasps from all who attended. When you arrive everyone will park outside the gate and wait for the guide. They will come open the gate, let everyone in, and close the gate. It's a two mile drive to the site and a short walk up a well paved hill to the cave. It's a working ranch, so if you're late, you can catch up, but make sure you open and then close the gate so the cows don't get out. I will go see this each and every time I'm in the area.See more..

I stayed in The Nest Treehouse with some girlfriends. I absolutely loved the treehouse, made me feel like a kid again! I do wish the bathroom was a bit closer but I understand how hard it would be to put a toilet in the trees! LOL! I appreciated the contact free check in process and the maps provided by the property were super helpful! I also really liked having the kitchenette, but I think the lighting could be a bit brighter in there. The peace and seclusion were so nice and I enjoyed the stargazing. I would love to stay here again especially when the zip lines come back!See more..

Arriving at the visitor center we were greeted by John, our guide and immediately felt comfortable and welcome. We spent a few minutes at the center looking at pictures of the raging water overflowing the spillway and began to get a sense of how powerful this event was. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hour gorge tour and John's knowledge and passion for geology. We learned so much and highly recommend taking the guided tour so you can go down into the gorge to find and touch fossils. It also allows you to see just how much was washed away in the overflow. The gorge is a treasure, and taking the tour was time well spent.See more..
The ride was amazing and its truly beautiful out there. I got this as a gift for my fiance for her birthday and she has not stopped talking about it since and has been telling everyone how much fun she had. Our horses treat and diamond were amazing, they're very well tempered and gentle for two people that haven't ridden in awhile. I recommend this for anyone just trying to get out and be in nature. We saw multiple types of wildlife from cardinals to deer running around. Definitely recommend the two hour because the one hour is not going to be enough, right when you get used to your horse and start having fun you would be going back. Our guide made sure we moved at our own pace when it came to the ride and reminded us what to do when we were doing anything outside of walking to make sure everyone made it back safe and had fun. Spend a day with Teri you’ll be rewarded in so many ways. Not only does she give you an excellent overview before going into the field; she also will spend extra time to help you get situated and will help identify your finds. We decided to go on two trips with her (Needle Peak and South Larremore Ranch). Both are very different terrain and offer different finds. Being a rock hound, I jumped at the chance to check out both of these private lands. Our three year old daughter, who also loves rocks in general, had a great time as well. Teri went out of her way to make sure she had fun and found some great treasures. Let me just say Tony rocks!!! We had a little mixup on the morning of our kyack trip. We arrived 15 minutes before our "meet up time" and by a string of miscommunication and confusions ended up in a caravan headed out of town with what we thought was our kyack group...yeah not. We were heading to a topaz dig??? Sounds fun. Maybe next time? But not what we drove here for. When we figured out something was wrong we called Tony and found out he and the others in the days group were still waiting for us at the meetup spot. Tony and the others agreed to wait for us to backtrack the 15 minutes we'd driven with the rock group. Sooo appreciate this!! The days kyack trip was just the right length for what we were wanting, about 3 1/2 hours. Tony made sure we were advised and prepared at set us on our way. Definitely recommend this trip if you want a little floating, a little need to push yourself and paddle and a little bit of rapids. Great day all around!! See more..

My wife and I went last year for part of our vacation. Allen and Bruce were very nice and helpful, the lodge was fine, everything was as advertised. Greystone is everything they advertise and more. The food and and beverage are awesome, accommodations are extremely adequate, the views are unmatched and pool/spa were just perfect. The evenings are just magical....words cant describe the views, ambiance and overall experience. I turkey hunted and killed a mature Tom. One afternoon, I fished and that was an awesome experience. I do recommend you bringing your own tackle. My wife enjoyed the pool/hot tub, took walks and just relaxed. We took a guided Safari Ranch Tour that was so interesting. Greystone isn’t a place for children as much as adults, but children are welcome. We will be back for sure.....this place is first class form start to finish. While every single staff member was super professional, I would like to thank Vickie, the Executive Chef and Drew, my hunting/fishing guide specifically. My wife and I canoed Section 2 of Village Creek. This is the shortest of the four sections Eastex offers. My wife is not very comfortable on the water and quite afraid of a number of wild critters. We both enjoyed the trip thoroughly. The creek was calm with many sand bars on this section -- some with a little shade, which we took advantage of to enjoy the lunch we packed. Since we went during the week, we had the creek to ourselves. We heard thunder in the distance from afternoon scattered storms, but we didn't get rained on. All-in-all, a great time.See more..

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our birding trip with Lee in Big Bend!! We booked a half-day tour with him during our recent stay ... . he is patient, knowledgable, friendly and entertaining . . . . we saw a lot of excellent Texas specialities and had a darn good time doing it! We had to change meeting places at the last minute because the birding activity had shifted from the west to the east side of the park . . . . maybe an inconvenience but I see it as someone who is in tune and up-to-date on the birds in the park and knows how to adapt to where they are heading. We saw Common Black hawks, Scott's Oriole, Vermillion Flycatcher, Summer Tanager, Bell's vireo, and Mexican Jays to name a few. Lee is a font of knowledge on the environment and wildlife in general and we learned so many things! We would go with Lee again in a heartbeat and highly recommend booking a trip with him!See more..

5 days spotting and snorkelling with humpback whales out from Ha*aipi was amazing. In August baby humpbacks are small and some came up close wanting to play providing good photo opportunities. This is an unsolicited review. We just got back from a pig hunting weekend at First Shot. We were a crew of 7 with 4 teenagers or young adults. Everyone had an amazing time. Aspin, Trotter and Seth were all excellent guides. They went above and beyond to make sure that everyones hunt was successful. The lodge is beautiful and online pictures don't do it justice. Brenda, our cook, made sure we were all fed well and often. We couldn't say enough about the whole experience. We have already made plans to go back next year.See more..

BEWARE!! We booked our annual family fishing trip with Fellowship Fishing Guide Service for Memorial Day Weekend and the captain cancelled on us the day before the fishing trip, sighting high winds as the reason. We explained that we were looking at the same forecast and that the winds didn’t look concerning until later in the afternoon. We were told that he was not taking us and then Blake casually mentioned we could simply re-book another date. We explained that this was a family trip and that we had several people coming in from out of state specifically for this and we could not simply re-book. We asked if he could take us out and if we could fish until the wind picked up and we could return early if it became at all unsafe, and again, we were told that he was not taking us out. Since there was no compromise that we could offer It became very clear to us that Blake had other plans and was using this very thin excuse to get out of the commitment. To emphasize the complete falsehood of Blake’s excuse, the morning of our scheduled trip we asked the several persons at the bait shop if any guides were going out that morning, and were told that guides had been in the bait shop in the numbers that they would expect on a holiday weekend. We also witnessed multiple guides at the boat ramps taking their clients out. We watched from the bank as the winds were mild and pleasant and didn’t pick up until long after our scheduled return time. For a guide service that advertises as a “Fellowship” guide service, blatantly lying to your clients seems a little un-Christian like. I see that they do have many great reviews so I can only assume that when they actually do take clients out, it is a good experience. However, if you have an important family gathering do not rely on this guide because if he has something better to do, he will leave you sitting on the bank.See more..
