  1. 4.5 Japanese Tea Gardens (1.887 reviews)
    - Did not expect it to be that good
Spent 1-2 hours Theaters • Gardens
    Japanese Tea Gardens image
Originally a rock quarry, part of the tea garden came from a donation by George W. Brackenridge and another section from Emma Koehler. In 1915 Ray Lambert, city parks commissioner, thought it would make a nice location for a lily pond. Ultimately, it grew to become a tea garden. The latest renovations began in 2007 and cost about $1.6 million, compared with the $7,000 Lambert originally spent to open the park. It is a Registered Texas Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. See more..

    - Jack Johnson Show
    Sunday: Theaters
    Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion image
Visited this venue for the Jack Johnson and Zighy Markey concert. It was a very very humid night, but overall the experience exceeded our expectations. Food and drink onsite were spectacular and not your average arena food! Parking was easy and we got into the pavilion within 5-6 minutes. My only gripe: I know concessions have to be shut down prior to end of the show but with current heat water should still be available for purchase throughout the evening or at least have water fountains or water bottles readily accessible! 15. 4.0 Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (174 reviews)
    - Cool movie venue

    Alamo Drafthouse Cinema image
They tore down the old Western Auto building in Richardson Heights Shopping Center and gentrified it with this lovely new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. If you're going to a movie around here, you should probably come to this place. You're going to like it! (Movies are generally too loud and visually difficult for me as an old broken-down codger-ette, so I choose my films carefully.) Try one of the neat Indian restaurants that have taken over the area. I still miss Sun Rexall (which was a 1940s icon on the corner that anchored the shopping center through the mid-1980s.) I wish I had seen James Stewart's "Harvey" here this past weekend like TinLizzie Traveler! That is one of the most wonderful films ever. 17. 4.0 Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie (161 reviews)
    - Great Theater But Watch Where You Purchase Seats
    Theaters
Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie image
Went to the Verizon Theater this past weekend to see Third Day. The theater itself is large and very nice. There is one thing that really bothered me tho. We had purchased ticket in the front section but on the side. In there corporate greed they placed seats so far to the side of the stage that you cant even see the preformers...in fact the side light that the preformers use totally blind you throughout the concert. It gives a whole new concept to "Seats may have some obstruction). I guess what really bothers me is that I knew that the seat were going to be on the side of the stage but they numbered the seats right to left on the right side and the opposite on the other. Whats this means is you think you are purcheasing tickets on the inside isle but if fact you are purchasing seats against the far walls...a sneaky way to sell the worst seats first at the expence of their guest. Studio Movie Grill (Arlington Highlands) image
2 Stars because of the server. Let me start by saying the young man who provided service to us was wonderful and attentive. The problem I have is why is SMG adding 18% gratuity to my order automatically regardless of the number of people. I have no problem adding a tip/gratuity but to make it automatic that makes no sense. SMG should increase the pay of their employees and not force an added charge to customer's bill. Very disappointed. I'm not going back. See more..

Saw 3 Doors Down and they sounded AWESOME!. We purchased 2 seats in 103 aisle and did not sit in them, those chairs are way too close together, zero room to move and cant get out of the aisle without disrupting everyone down the aisle much like being in an airplane with even less room. Claustrophobic. So we just walked upstairs to the lawn area and loved it! Roomy, you can see and hear everything, move around, dance, there are clean toilets, food and drinks available. People were having fun up there. We will only do lawn seats from now on, also could have saved us a lot of money. See more..

    Perot Theatre image
The beautiful restored Perot Theatre, located in downtown Texarkana at 3rd and Main St, has been a landmark since 1924 when it opened as the Saenger Amusement Company's "Gateway to the Southwest" theatre. Fully restored by the City of Texarkana, TX in 1979-80, the building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Texarkana natives, H. Ross Perot and his sister Bette, through the Perot Foundation, contributed much of the restoration costs in memory of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Gabriel Ross Perot. In recognition of this contribution, the Texarkana, TX City Council renamed the building - The Perot Theatre. The theatre annually hosts the Perot Theatre Series, as well as numerous rentals throughout the year. The Perot Theatre is owned by the City of Texarkana, TX and the Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council is contracted to program and manage the theatre. See more..

This is the first time I had ever been to a Drive-in cinema and I found it fantastic. We got there early to avoid queues but there were not many people there, probably due to the weather. Our GPS sent us to the wrong entrance as well so look out for that. Reading previous reviews I can see where there could be an issue getting in if it was busy as there are no traffic lights just a single lane which could hold up traffic up with people turning in. Thought the cost was extremely good value. See more..

That cast had so many obstacles that came up last minute and I am super proud of how they handed themselves and came together as a "family" to get th job done. I feel like a VIP when I go to this theater. I like being served at my chair during the movies. I enjoy the set up they have for reserving your seats online. It is a $1.50 fee, but so worth it to know exactly where you are going to sit and to slide right as the movie starts. The food has been pretty good. Some things I got were better than others. Most of the time the service has been okay. Occasionally I will get less than good service, but it usually doesn't interfere with our movie experience enough to keep us from coming back. The prices are though. We only attend this movie theater with groupons. To go without a coupon is too expensive for our tastes. See more..

Seats are reserved, and prices are reasonable, but in our opinion, it is worth it to get the best seats in the house - the box seats upstairs! These box seats cost a little more, but concessions are included (not alcohol). We have seen tribute bands, and the Pink Floyd Laser Light show which was spectacular!
