4.5Barton Creek Greenbelt(238 reviews) - Great hike to the hidden pools Sunday: 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
If you walk far enough you come upon these "hidden pools" that are a locals secret..oops.Great place to walk you dog, or just take a hike. Bring a swimsuit, because after that hike you might to take a swim in these hidden pools. Note to parents: you might not want to bring kids to these pools because there is a lot of topless sunbathing and swimming, plus on really hot weekend days, these pools tend to attract the massive beer drinking types. My husband and I were in Kerrville for our anniversary weekend and enjoyed walking on the trail 2 mornings. We were impressed with the condition of the trail and met the nicest couple in their 80’s that walk the trail daily. A great place to soak up some nature and get some exercise on the 6 mile route. What a wonderful investment the city has made for its residents!!See more..

I hate for the secret to get out, but i bet it's too late for that anyway. This bike trail is one of my all-time favorites. They have really done alot of work and maintenance on this trail the last couple of years, and it is in phenomenal shape. When we were there a few weeks ago, it looked like they were putting in a newer bigger pump track too. Love Erwin Park! See more..
4.5Cedar Breaks Park(34 reviews) - Great park with shade and scenery Spent More than 3 hours Biking Trails • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Went here for a 2 day stay in site #36 right on the lake. We had a beautiful view from our trailer over the lake. We set our chairs up right under the trees and had plenty of shade. Many of these sites are not big rig friendly. We saw several large fifth wheels scrapping tree tops. Many of the sites don't go very far back either. While our site was sloped it was level from side to side. The picknic table are all under covered structures and while they are old they seem to be in good shape. We enjoyed this COE campground especially when using our senior pass getting a $13 per day rate.See more..
4.5Double Lake Recreation Area(21 reviews) - Double Lake - Double A++ Spent 2-3 hours Biking Trails • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
My wife and I have been camping here a few times. We have stayed on both the tent side with no electric and RV side with electric. We are tent campers, and, in the summer, the electric side is better as we can use electric fans. No matter, though, you will be able to find a beautifully, wooded campsite. We were introduced to Double Lake by friends, and, living 45 minutes away, we love this campground. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The sites are very well kept. There are both rustic sites with potable water and electric sites. The swimming area is exceptionally clean. Sites can be reserved in advanced or you can try a walk on site. This is our favorite weekend camping spot near Houston. What to do while there? Relax, swim, fish, kayak, mountain bike, walk the trails, and, oh yeah, relax.See more..
I've been mountain biking all over the US, to include places like Moab UT and Northern California, and I can honestly say that this was the most fun I've had on any trail to date! You won't find anything too technical out here, but there are all kinds of goodies to play on out there! Things like rope bridges, wooden plank trails, as well as a teeter-totter! You definitely will not regret a trip out to this trail, I promise!!See more..
Nice park to bring the kids. Short hiking trails and a playground. Small water works for kids to play in. Bathrooms have improved over the years. Need to get out of the house for a few hours and bored? Nice place! See more..
5.0Mission Hike & Bike Trails(12 reviews) - Safe place to ride without motor vehicle exposure Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Mission trails is a good, safe place to ride without risking life and limb from texting drivers. It does get busy on weekends with riders, walkers and runners, so one has to be mindful of them. There are also improve dirt trails for the more serious mountain biker. The paved trail ends up at Bentsen State Park, where you can ride free if you have a parks pass, or pay a nominal fee. Abundant wildlife viewing(especially birds). See more..

4.0Azalea Trail(4 reviews) - A Great Trail Spent 2-3 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
This is a great walking trail. It has a nice walking surface and wanders through some beautiful East Texas forestland. There are lights and call boxes along the trail for security. However, as other reviewers have noted, there have been incidents on this trail. I’ve seen homeless folks on it is as it is very close to a busy part of town. I use it to walk my dog but have a carry license and always carry.See more..

4.5Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail(3 reviews) - It's a lot longer than you think it is Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails We have been walking the Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail for about 10 years. It is a very well maintained trail and just a wonderful place to walk and not feel like you are in the middle of town. Don't make the mistake I did the first time and think it is a loop. When you get to the end, if you don't have a ride, you have to walk back.See more..
4.5Canyonlands and Mt Lakeway(3 reviews) - What a find - Nice trails Spent 2-3 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails Trails are rugged and rocky, not what I expected only minutes from the posh homes of Lakeway. It was nice to get our hiking boots on and hit the trails. It's about 5 or 6 miles round trip from Canyonlands trailhead to the top of Mt. Lakeway, perfect on a 65 degree day but I cannot imagine doing it during the heat of the summer. However, it is nicely shaded through most of the switchbacks. It is also a mountain bike trail and the paths are not very wide, so keep an eye out for bikes. The paths are not very well marked once you get outside of the immediate Canyonlands, so if you are looking to trek to the top of Mt. Lakeway, just follow the power lines (the switchbacks give you an easier trail option with more shade, but of course they are much longer than just following the power lines.)See more..
5.0Angel of Goliad Hike and Bike Trail(3 reviews) - Great hike / bike trail from Courthouse to the missions Spent 2-3 hours Biking Trails • Jogging Paths & Tracks
The trail, maintained by the San Antonio River Authority, on the north side starts a block south of the historic (and beautiful) historic courthouse; on the south side it runs near the Presido la Bahia and Mission Espiritu Santo. The 2 mile trail is great for walking or biking. On the north side there are several boardwalks in shaded areas and on the south side it is rather open with little shade. We parked our truck at the courthouse and rode our bikes south a couple of blocks to the trail head by the boy scouts building. If you want to park your vehicle at the trailhead there is limited parking near the boy scouts building or at the parking lot for the Branch Nature Park.See more..
Took the kids on a Sunday. The trails are well marked. We did the intermediate Dark blue trail and returned on the light blue trail to starting point. It took us about 2 hours. My four year old loved it. She didn’t complain. The city has done a fabulous job on building this attraction. See more..
This is the only mountain bike trail in Lufkin. It is an amazing trail that is well worth the drive! Located in Kit McConnico park you can find the trail head just off the side of the first parking lot. There is a large wooden board with the trail maps for the hiker and bikers convenience! A few bridges dot the trail and there is plenty of intermediate to difficult trails. We are avid cyclists and love mountain biking so discovering this trail was a God sent....we often times pack picnics and will go hike or bike the trail and eat lunch in the woods. This trail is kept up with by volunteers, not the City Of Lufkin, so after storms there are sometimes trees down. Just remember, volunteers can only do so much! Other then that, the trail is very well kept up with.See more..
3.5Victoria Park(2 reviews) - Small park with walking trails. Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Parks • Playgrounds
This park is located in South Irving, It has picnic tables and a playground for children. It has a pond and a fountain. My biggest issue: not many trees; the City of Irving should plant more trees and flowers!!See more..
My husband and I enjoyed a short walk at the Cougar Creek Greenbelt on a Saturday afternoon. The greenbelt consist of 23.37 acres. It’s borders include Brodie Lane, Ernest Robles Way and Jones Road. The Cougar Creek Greenbelt is open hiking during daylight hours. One trailhead starts on Ernest Robles Way and ends at the Sunset Valley city hall (about a 1/2 mile one way). The wide concrete trail is not a loop. We did not see anyone people on the trail. It worth a trip back someday.See more..
I live within walking distance of this park, and it's absolutely WONDERFUL, a hidden gem in Anna and Collin County! Open space perfect for outdoor games, a gazebo (they put Christmas lights on it during the holidays!), dog park, lots of tree cover...they even have bathrooms! And the walking trails are really beautiful (see pics) and walking them during the Fall and Winter is SO relaxing. It's just a wonderful park with a lot to offer in a small city.See more..
This is a great trail that host cyclist, hikers, runners, walkers and other outdoor activities. The trail attracts people from all over Collin, Hunt, Dallas, and Grayson counties.See more..
Located over behind Rowlett High School, this is a little hidden gem of a park. It is situated between the school and Lake Ray Hubbard near the railroad tracks that run through there. There is ample parking and the walking trail entrance is easy to find. The paved pathway if perfect for hiking, running, walking a dog or biking. Along the way are several work-out machines for a fitness walk. There is also a historic homestead that we passed in the beginning. The path has a tree canopy and would be perfect in sunny weather. The path meanders through pecan groves, native forest, and circles back to where you started. This is a perfect place to go for a Covid-19 social-distancing excursion.See more..
Located right next to Dogwood Canyon (they share a parking lot), this is a wide paved hiking/biking path that leads beside the highway, down to a meadow, a forest and loops back. The first part follows along a creek bed. It is a great place to walk dogs or kids safely - I just didn't care for the traffic noise.See more..
4.0Producers Park(1 review) - Beautiful Park Biking Trails • Parks • Jogging Paths & Tracks
Clean, modern playground and park with covered pavilion. Also a soccer field, basketball court, walking/jogging/biking concrete trails, a nature trail in northeast corner of park and large green space. Ample parking. 4 stars because of the lack of shade in this area that has brutal heat and sunshine 6 months or more of the year. Otherwise a beautiful park!See more..
