John Winn is the best of the best on Caddo Lake. My husband and I rented his kayaks and stayed on his land during our stay at Caddo, and it was a dream. John made everything so easy: he is kind and incredibly generous, and knows the lake like no other. We saw blue herons and egrets on Caddo, and John told us where to go to find the most picturesque spots - his land is right off some of the most beautiful spots on the lake. Thank you, John. We rented a daytime cabana from 10:30-6:30 for 5 adults, 1 teen, and 1 child. There was plenty of room! We rented cabana C6 because it was the first one, meaning we only had neighbors on one side. It was really private, close to the parking lot, and close to some porta potties. We also rented an iFloat, a paddleboard, and a kayak for the day. We brought our own floats too. Next time I think we might try to get one of the cabanas that are over the water. We brought a cooler full of drinks, some match light charcoal, and cooked hotdogs for lunch. Rented a roundabout and it was our first time to ever rent a boat. Was a little nervous, especially after only being able to complete 3 out of the 6 modules of the online Texas Boater Safety training course....but we not only survived; we had a blast! Rented a tube. These guys are professionals who know what they are doing. Check-in and briefing was smooth and professional. Boat, tube, life jackets, etc were great. No complaints at all. One time they even upgraded our pontoon to a ski boat as the boat we were supposed to get broke down (all other boats were rented out). We rented a pontoon to celebrate bringing the summer season to an end. Upon arrival Cheri was right there, ready to greet us with a smiling face. She was very clear with the instructions and what to expect. She made sure we understood what we were signing, the time frames and how to safely exit and re-enter the marina. She was so kind, friendly and patient during the entire process from beginning to end (even when the family was raring to go). The dockhands were amazing as well, extremely helpful, and more than willing to answer any and all questions we had. We could not have asked for a better experience. We were on our way up to Lake Fork from Austin when we found out the pump on our boat (that we keep there) went out. Thankfully The Boat Rental at Lake Fork was able to accommodate a last minute reservation (the lake was quiet because of the heat) of one of the larger fishing pontoons. The boat was perfect for our needs! Honestly, it was one of our best fishing weekends there, in part because of the pontoon. Three of us fished very comfortably. The boat handled well (for a pontoon!) and everything worked on it (which if you've rented boats before you know that's not always a given). Would not hesitate at all to rent from them again!! We used Bluff Creek, or Hell's Gate Water Rental -- they go by both names, I think. Super easy to get a couple of SeaDoos going for around $85 an hour. The kids working there are super quick and easy to get you into the water. FANTASTIC people watching if you are, say, a 40-something chubby suburban mom who enjoys looking at the boat-set while the kiddos tear it up. :) So, I recommend this place pretty heartily! Do take a couple of slices of bread or crackers or buy a dollar's worth of fish food to feed those hungry cats in the dock. Good way to spend the time while you wait.See more..

We decided last minute to take a couple of days and to go do something fun- we found Gun Barrel and Cedar Creek Reservoir and then found a place to stay and a boat to rent at Cherokee Landing. The owners were so nice and accommodating. The pontoon boat easily fit our family of 7. The boat was older but ran well and was priced fairly! After owning boats and being around them for a lifetime I've settled on renting them. The Ray Roberts Marina is a great value for doing just that. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Just call them on the phone to make a rental reservation. Prepare to run your credit card for a hold (no debit cards.) The choices are limited, large pontoon or extra large pontoon boats. The marina is easy to find, close to 455. The office is inside the big store on the fuel dock. The boats are good quality. I rented a Lund 22 foot with a 90 hp four stoke outboard motor. Plenty good for pulling a tube or inflatable. They rent these too. The also rent standup paddle boards and kayaks. The boat was in new clean condition and was very fuel efficient. Fuel is expensive; so, this is a perk. I had the boat for 6 hours and only used a quarter tank $20. The deck hands were helpful in loading and unloading our equipment. The rates are very reasonable, when compared to other rentals on Lake Lewisville and Grapevine, which are almost twice as much. Ray Roberts Lake is also not very populated, which makes for a less stressful boating experience.See more..
We spent five wonderful days in Marble Falls and spent 2 of those days boating around the Horseshoe Bay area and Lake LBJ. We rented our boats from Highland Lakes Boat Rentals. Ramona handled all of our needs and was super helpful, friendly and patient. Along with our boat rentals we rented a tube towable and a lily pad. We had so much fun with the family! Our first day we rented the boat for only 4 hours, but on our second day we decided to go out for the whole day (8 hrs). You can take an ice chest with food and drinks [do not take glass bottles].
