Fall decor, fresh pumpkins, samples of carrot/orange juice were all enticing as we waited for our breakfast bagels to be prepared while we watched. Little ones pushed their own shopping cart around while we ordered our meal. We snatched up a few pieces of fruit and headed upstairs to eat. This is such a fun candy store! The staff is very friendly, and there is so much different types of candy to choose from. The cafe is exactly what is claims to be. The Midpoint of Historic Route 66. Yes when you get here you are exactly halfway between Chicago and Santa Monica on what is Americas most famous road. It's the perfect place to take lunch. When we arrived we spent a few minutes goofing around and taking photos of the various sign and the markings on the road . Then time for lunch and wow was that good, my wife had what she said was the best BLT that she had eaten and I had a really great burger. It could not have been better, simple fare served in this really homely and friendly cafe in the middle of the United States. So, it has been a couple of years since I visited Texas Boot Co. But I want to correct my mistake for waiting so long. I went in not knowing too much about boots, but wanted a pair after too many decades of not wearing them. The years have not been kind and I had recently recovered from metatarsalgia and a stress fracture in my right foot. I also have rather high insteps. I wanted a quality pair of boots that fit well and were made in Texas. After a lengthy search and broadening my initial ideas about what style would fit best, I ended up with a pair of Lucchese 1883 western style. I thought I would need a roper-style or at least a walking heel, but these fit just fine and are surprisingly not too narrow. These are not cheap boots, but they fit like a glove with no break-in needed. The folks at Texas Boot were polite, knowledgeable, and very patient as we searched for the perfect pair.
