    - 2nd time here....staff is great,. Roads? Not so much!
Spent More than 3 hours Libraries • Convention Centers
    Thousand trails image
We were here in March 2019, and again in Jan/FEB 2020....the staff is always awesome. We were not able to use most of the amenities due to weather (winds, rain, etc) We were hoping the roads would have been fixed....but NO. They are still HORRIBLE!!!! When you have people pulling huge rigs in and out of the park, you would expect the park to keep the roads fixed especially. But NO. We talked to the staff and they said they used all the cold asphalt to fix what they could and are waiting on more. They had to use 5 gallon buckets and do it by hand? Really Thousand Trails? Where is our money going if not to fix the roads and give some help to the staff? It's a sad thing when you have to almost go in a ditch to miss huge holes or ruts in the road. Awful. Please fix this! See more..

  10. 4.5 Presidential Archives and Leadership Library (29 reviews)
    - Wonderful Presidential Museum
Sunday: Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Libraries
Presidential Archives and Leadership Library image
The Presidential Archives and Leadership Library is located on the campus of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and is administered by the John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute. The archival collection was begun by local Odessa citizens as a memorial to the memory of President John F. Kennedy shortly after his assassination in 1963. There was such an overwhelming response with information about other presidents that a decision was made to create a unique collection that would be dedicated to the office of the presidency and an understanding of the electoral process. It is an outstanding collection of exhibits, campaign memorabilia, books, photos, magazines, and other historic collectibles that tell the history of the office of the president and of events that have shaped the American people. This dynamic collection continues to grow and expand as each new president takes office and is available to both the casual visitor and the serious scholar. Few experiences have greater impact than an encounter with history. The mission of the Archives is to have that impact. See more..

The Eugene Clark Library located in Lockhart Texas is the oldest continuous operating library in Texas. The picture you see is the Library that was donated to the city in 1899 by Dr Eugene Clark a local physician. It contains a Lyceum and stage where President Harding once spoke. He spiral staircase located inside going to the second story is unique. The second story is where to local book club meets and the furniture is original. Several years ago, in order to raise money for the library, the librarian went to the top and stayed there day and night until the funds were raised. Jeff Davis County Library image
I enjoy visiting libraries, but we stopped at this one because we wanted to check out a couple of DVDs to watch in our camper. For such a small town, the library has a very good selection of books and dvds. Even though I have library cards from two libraries at home, I was not able to check anything out. However, the librarian told me about the TexShare Card which I can get at my home library. It will allow me to check out materials at participating libraries in Texas. After returning home, I got the card at my local library, so I'll be able to borrow books at other locations. I don't know if residents of other states would be able to take advantage of this program or not, but for Texas residents with a library card, this can come in handy when visiting out of the way places. 19. 4.5 Marble Falls Public Library (10 reviews)
    - Friendly little library
    Spent 1-2 hours Libraries
This is a lovely library for such a small town, and the staff really goes out of their way to be helpful and friendly! I wish that their e-book and movie selection was a bit larger, but I'm guessing that they're operating on a pretty lean budget - and it's great to be able to read some of the current newspapers and magazines online if you have a library card! I checked out a couple of books (they actually had some by an author that I haven't been able to find from my "big city" library) and the service was easy to use. The space is clean with lots of places to get comfortable and read. It's nice to support small-town libraries! See more..

    W Walworth Harrison Library image
I love this library! I have lived locally for 8 years and can actually walk to the library. If you have young kids, you really can't beat the combo of the library and Ja-Lu Park/Splashpad. It's all free, fun, and has something for everyone. There is an area to picnic at the park which shares the grounds. The library has computers available for your kiddos (or you) to play or research online and has a selection of books for ALL ages. It is clean, well run, and has friendly, knowledgable staff. I have seen tutoring groups and study sessions meeting there regularly, hidden back in the stacks away from distraction. When we first moved here and my kids were little, they could not wait for the Summer Reading Club, guest speakers, and movie days at the library. There is also an adult book reading club...gardening club...and if you're a Pokemon Go fan, there's even a gym and Pokestop. See more..

I accompanied my husband on a day trip from San Antonio to Bryan, as he had a sales call in the area. I needed a place to "camp out" for a couple of hours and hoped the library would be the spot. I was thrilled to discover this historic treasure! Jolene greeted me and made me feel instantly at home. She shared my love of historic architecture and told wonderful stories of Bryan's past. I was able to plug in my laptop and was allowed to wander and explore to my heart's content. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and it will always remind me of a very happy day in Bryan. It would have been well worth the visit on its own! See more..

We've been coming to this library since my kids were little. They're now 20 and 14 and this library is still indispensable to me. The librarians are always very friendly and helpful. I always use their website to request for materials I need (books, audibooks, etc.), and you receive a notification when they are ready for pick-up. The Friends of the Library run a used books shop by the entrance and it is the best place to buy books and magazines. The library is also right across the Branch Crossing YMCA which makes it very convenient for moms like me to drop by both the library and the gym in one trip. See more..

While I am sorry that they had to start charging please keep in mind this is not a decision made by the Library staff. It is a City decision. - Small town treasure
    Libraries
The library has added new sections for the toddler ages and young adults, and they have done an amazing job with both areas! The toddler area is enclosed separately, with many age appropriate toys and books that encourage hands-on, imaginative play. The young adult section includes bean bags, tables, and brand new, popular young adult book series displayed for browsing- enticing an age group that normally might not enjoy hanging out in a library. The adult section includes a quiet area for using the computers or seating area to read. I am always happy with the selection and enjoy the new titles on display at the front. My family is so grateful for this small town treasure and the labor of love that goes into maintaining it. See more..

    Libraries
    Eagle Pass Public Library image
The Historic old Eagle Pass post office and now Library, originally built in 1912, recently underwent a two year restoration process at a cost of $4 million. After a long wait, the city reopened the doors of this gem in December of 2017. The city did a wonderful job of bringing it back to life. We have visited many great libraries across Texas but we can genuinely say this is one of the most beautiful we’ve seen in this state. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you want to research the history of Eagle Pass, this is the place to do it. Yearbooks from Eagle Pass High School dating back to the 1920s can be found in the top floor. The facility has three floors, with the basement serving as the computer/technology wing, the first floor contains the main book stacks plus Spanish books, and the top floors contains the children’s section plus reference. In conclusion, when in Eagle Pass it is a must to visit this grand building. See more..
