Library & Old Yeller statue

The library is a really nice place staffed by very friendly folks. A good place to relax and read a bit while the world passes by. In front of the library is a bronze statue of Old Yeller and the boy who loved him, Travis. The author of the book, Fred Gipson, lived in Mason. The award-winning book was published in 1956 and the movie was released on Christmas Day, 1957. The movie caused many a tear to be shed by children and adults alike.

    Old Yeller
Fred Gipson, author of Old Yeller lived in Mason, TX. There is a bronze statue out front of Old Yeller and a small room of the library is dedicated to him. Also in the library are beautiful beveled glass doors and windows and beautiful handwork of Texas Wildflowers. Across from the handwork is a Shirt Quilt that is a very nice display as well. There is a room with a fireplace for comfy reading and conference use. Very nice short visit.
