Falls were dried up due to lack of rain but the park awesome place to walk. Lots of shade and nice paved paths along Witchita river. We went early morn and forgot to bug spray so do that because we ran into batch of mosquitos in few spots. See more..

Trail to Falls is 3 miles in/out relatively flat but extremely rocky so watch your footing. Most of trail is in woods so ideal for summer hiking in Texas. There’s a steep descend at end with ropes to prevent a total wipe out. We were not too proud to use them. Falls had a good flow vs a measly trickle; however, the moss was still brown & had not rebounded from last winter. Encountered lots of vultures, few butterflies & 1 armadillo. Limited wildflowers & trees blooming. See more..

Many will say a dam is just a dam and while that may be true you need to look for the items which make each unique. This is the largest lake located entirely in Texas and the power plant is coming along nicely. There is great bar fish8ng in the pool below the dam and good camping. See more..
  4. 3.0 Tonkawa Falls (5 reviews)

This city park is great for waterfalls, swimming, picnics, and the (illegal) cliff jumping. Yes, the local government does not want you jumping off the cliffs, but all the locals were jumping. There is a picnic pavilion to view the falls if you can not climb down the 1930s CCC era stairs. It is a free thing to do if you are visiting Crawford. Note: If you wish to park drive down 4th Street near the local high school football field (free). See more..
