We love visiting the Deep Eddy's distillery when we are in the area! It's a nice change from going to the wineries (which are fun too!). I only wish they were open more days and extended hours! We tried to go on a Wednesday but they were closed so were able to manage to go on Thursday when they were open. We also got lucky because they are open past their posted time of 5 pm during the summer/busy season. AND it was happy hour between 5-7 so we got $2 off the beverages during happy hour. It included a Deep Eddy's mason jar which we will use at home when mixing our new favorite Deep Eddy's recipes. The bartenders were very happy to make modifications to the drink menu or even suggest other recipes to try. We added jalapeno to a couple of ours and it was SO yummy! A great way to cut through if a beverage is a little on the sweet side! Highly recommend taking time to fit this into your visit! We will be back!See more..

Smithville has a true gem on their hands with the Bone brand right in the heart of this sleepy little town. The small distillery was an afternoon activity for us as we were interested in their sampling of vodka, gin, moonshine and whiskey. The owner was funny, informative and passionate about their distillery's process and the upstairs tasting room was lovingly fashioned by him as well. He made the bar, benches and light fixtures! We loved the gin and purchased a bottle of the moonshine after a tasting of his peach moonshine cocktail. Can I get a yee-haw?!? Great time, great booze.See more..

Whiskey Hollow is located just a minute drive off of I-35. We stopped on a Monday morning en route from Dallas to OKC. The gentleman working was very friendly and welcoming. My wife had a rum-rita and I did a tasting. For an additional $10 I also tried the top-shelf gold product. The flavored moonshine was actually really good! My wife and I were in Llano for vaccinations and decided to walk around for a while after. She headed to the shops and I, intrigued by the distillery sign, decided to see what was inside the building. I’m a bourbon snob and was about to leave when I found out it was a vodka distillery, but struck up a conversation with a guy on a barstool, who turned out to be the owner/distiller, Marion. The guy is a hoot and I stayed for a spell and found I actually enjoyed his product. He told me that only two percent of the world’s vodka is distilled from potatoes, the way the Russians do it; and that’s how he does it. My wife and I are from San Antonio and we had gone up to Houston for couple of days and we diced to stop into shiner Texas and tour the brewery. Well to our surprise it was closed Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. So on the way back we tried to stop in at templin bar in Gonzales TX. Well strike two it is permanently closed. Well we saw a Rum distillery down the street and decided to go in for one drink. Wow was this a diamond in the rough. Great service and fresh made cocktails from our wonderful bartender. She started us off with a free shot of their rum and it was smooth. Then we had a strawberry daiquiri, mojito and a pina colada. All freshly made and nothing frozen wow they are great. As we were sitting there a man came up to the bar. We started taking and had a great conversation with him come to find out he was the former owner of Templin bar.
