Fun and tasty distillery tour!
I love finding little craft distilleries, taking a tour (if offered), and tasting the products of their labors. Everyone has a little different approach to making spirits, which is fascinating. While spending time north of Dallas with family, I sought out Bendt (nee Witherspoon) for a little enjoyment on a Saturday afternoon. The facility is tucked away in Lewisville and offers a bar with craft cocktails, which they encourage taking on a tour. So, twist my arm, I did just that. The tour was a mere $10, which included a tasting of 4 of their products at the end. The tour guide was well schooled in the history of the distillery and answered, knowledgeably, questions asked by the group. It's not a big facility so, beginning to end, the tour took about 30 minutes or so. At the end, we tasted their blended straight whiskey (kind of their flagship), a bourbon cream, a newly released "rested" gin, and a pre-made Old Fashioned. All were very good, especially, for me, the gin. I ended up taking 3 bottles with me of varying things, 2 as gifts and one for me. After the tour, you can use what you learn back in their cocktail bar if you so desire. Definitely recommend it if you enjoy craft spirits, as it was light and fun. And very tasty!

Fund tour and great drinks.
We took the tour last Friday. Although I had been on other distillery tours, this one was very interesting. Our guide (I forgot his name but he looked like Santa) told great stories and answered all our questions. The tasting at the end was really fun. Then we went to the bar for more drinks. Very friendly bartenders and good drinks. And a great atmosphere - inside and out.
