Treaty Oak Distilling, Texas, United States

Family friendly fun!

Treaty Oak Distillery is named after the famous 500-year old tree in Austin under which Stephen F. Austin signed agreements defining the borders of Texas. In 2016, we moved southwest of Austin to a 28 acre ranch called Ghost Hill located near Dripping Springs. With fun for young & old, our property (open Thurs-Sun) includes a distillery (tours on Saturdays, res required), Alice's Restaurant, a chic dine-in space with an elevated menu focusing on BBQ, sandwiches, salads & sides. Our food truck serves BBQ, tacos & snacks. Our Rickhouse Bar is open to all & our Tasting Room has a science-driven bar. Also, don't miss our bottle shop located adjacent to the distillery. We have live music most weekends & a playground for kids. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Hidden gem in the Hill Country
Did the distillery tour and dinner. Tour was short and informative. Whisky sour with the Red Handed bourbon was best I have ever had! They make their own bourbon and gin - several types of each. The tasting room allowed us to sample all their wares and resulted in us buying several bottles of spirits. Barbecue dinner afterwards was excellent. The Mac and cheese and the grilled Brussel sprouts deserve special mention for being outstanding. The signature drinks at dinner were designed to meet everyone’s tastes.

Beautiful property with many options of thigs to do
We have heard good things about the distillery since our last visit. They have added more hard liquor varieties to their distillery. Gin, bourbon, and rye are now available for tastings. We were not able to do the distillery tour because of CV19, but we have been told but is good. The setting is really very attractive with huge Live Oaks on the property. There is a restaurant that is good, but not great. The bar is very attractive for the tastings. There are many tables scattered under the oaks. There is a souvenir and wine shop as well as a second bar and the distillery. The parking lot is large, but very rough--do not wear your best boots! We did the bourbon and rye tastings. Both are a little too sharp for my taste, but a tasting is always fun. They do a nice job of explaining the options and serving them. We did not buy a bottle for personal consumption, but we'll give them another try when friends are in town and looking for something "different" to do.
