Fun way to spend 90 minutes learning about whiskey!

Great place! The Likarish family is delightful. This is truly a family business. Easy to find location, great 90-minute tour that includes some about the history or wine making, cognac and the sister city relationship between Denison and Cognac, as well as the great TV Munson and his work to save winemaking in Texas (and France). Educational when to comes to understanding how whiskey is made, lots about different kinds of corn, a visit to the barrel room (smell that angel’s share!) and of course some tasting. Highly recommend and thanks Likarish family!

    Tour and Tasting
A short drive from the suburbs north of Dallas and a great place to stop on the way to Durant casinos. I enjoyed the storytelling and the history and the small group made it easy to ask questions. The tastings were fun and it was nice to be able to buy some product on site since it is difficult to find in my local liquor stores. So nice to see people who have a dream and a passion, work hard pursuing it and create something so many people enjoy and have a great time doing it.

The holy grail of craft distilling in Texas.
I have been on the Ironroot Republic Distillery tour three times now. Amazing to have a small family business started just 7 years ago win both Best Bourbon in the World (2020 Harbinger) and the World's Best Corn Whiskey three times. The tour is so content rich, repeat exposures just allow you to retain more details and further appreciate the learning curve and craft that goes into making exceptional distilled spirits. It's a great story about creating the distillery in a town known for an obscure Texan who's experimentation with domestic grape root stock and varietal branch grafting in Dennison, TX saved both the French and American wine industries from phylloxera. Hence the connection with Cognac France and Ironroot's use of French distillation methods. The family saga of creating an exceptional business and products is just as fascinating. The Likarish Family are fabulous hosts and it is time well spent. Their bourbons and whiskey's are a dream to taste. Go and enjoy!!
